Can Chelsea
Challenge for Trophies?
Mauricio Pochettino has had mixed results since taking over at the Bridge,
but there have been a few positive signs that the young squad is starting to
click together. With no European football to contend with this season, the
Blues can concentrate on the cup competitions.
Many have tipped Chelsea for cup success, and Pochettino’s troops are still
going strong in the Carabao Cup. Also, their FA Cup journey begins in January,
and the London side are hoping to go far in that tournament. You can bet on the
Blues in all cup competitions this season.

Mancunian Settled
in London
Palmer was becoming a hit at Manchester City, so it was a real surprise when
Pep Guardiola allowed the youngster to make the switch to Stamford Bridge. He
came through City’s academy and signed a senior deal at the Etihad Stadium in
2020.
Palmer scored several crucial goals during his time with Man City, including the equaliser against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup at the start of this season. City went on to win 5-4 on penalties in Greece. Palmer was also on target in the FA Community Shield game against Arsenal.

"Really pleased. One of the reasons he left was game time and he's getting it so congratulations to him. He's playing well and all the best."

Pochettino liked what he saw, and the England U21 international signed a
whopping seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge for a reported initial fee of
£40 million. He made his debut the next day, coming on as a substitute in
Chelsea’s home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
His first Chelsea goal came in October when he netted in a 4-1 win at
Burnley. Palmer also scored in the next game, firing in from the penalty spot
again in the 2-2 home draw with the Gunners. He continued his fine record
from 12 yards with a goal in the recent 4-1 victory at the
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Palmer Pleasing
Pochettino
Palmer has made an instant impact at the Bridge and has already forced his way into Pochettino’s starting eleven. He made just three Premier League starts during his three-year senior career at the Etihad, but Palmer looks set to be a regular in the Chelsea team for the foreseeable future.

After a forgettable campaign last time around, Chelsea need to repair some damage. Securing a top-six finish is the priority, but can the Blues aim a little higher this term? They have an extremely talented squad, and players like Palmer are young and hungry to showcase their talents. Also, in Pochettino, the Londoners have one of the best managers around. Can Chelsea be a force to be reckoned with once again?
