CHELSEA MANAGER FRANK LAMPARD ON THE DEFENSIVE - WHAT ELSE DO YOU EXPECT?

Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard appeared on the defensive in his pre-match press conference today ahead of the game against Luton Town in the FA Cup on Sunday leading to allsorts of comment on social media. What else do you expect?

 
It's been a bad week as far as Chelsea are concerned and for Frank Lampard in particular with the fallout from the poor performance against Leicester. There is has been intense criticism of his management of the team from the press, leading to additional intense speculation regarding his position in the job with other names being linked to take over.

 
There has been plenty talked about as far as Frank Lampard goes within the media, via pundits, the press, social media and with other Chelsea video content creators and today Frank Lampard has responded. One reported for The Athletic, Liam Twomney has taken time this week to rip apart the Chelsea performance against Leicester pointing out the flaws in our performance and the managers tactical approach which led to a direct response from Frank Lampard. He said:

 
"To be fair, I think their confidence would be shot if they were to read some of the pieces you write at the minute,’ he told the reporter.

 
‘I read some of them and some of the confirmation bias you always reflect on games with, it's almost like a social media pundit to try and get a reaction in a negative way.

 
‘I read the pieces when we were doing well as well and they didn't go both ways.

 
‘So for a journalist to be objective would be a big start. Because if the players do read it, I’d feel like that.’

 
Frank Lampard's retort has led to additional comments being made on social media this afternoon with many surprised at such an outburst. For me personally, I wouldn't expect anything less from the manager after the week he has had.

 
Frank Lampard has come out fighting. Let's hope it rubs off onto his players.
