Chelsea were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw away at Bournemouth, which instantly put more pressure on their push to finish in the Champions league places. They returned by progressing past Liverpool in the FA Cup 5th round and have now produced a very impressive performance at home to Everton. This saw Chelsea dominate from the off, on their way to a 4-0 victory. Everton failed to get into the match and could only manage 39% possession and just one shot on target. This gives an indication of just how good Chelsea were and they now are in a strong position to finish in those all-important Champions league positions.

This victory meant that Chelsea remained in fourth position and still have a three point gap over the resurgent Manchester United side. From 29 matches played, Chelsea have won 14, drawn six and lost nine. This means they also have a five points gap from the sixth placed side Wolves and have nine points to find with second placed side Manchester City.
Chelsea now appear to be in a very strong position in order to qualify for the top four, as they move into the final nine Premier league matches of the season. First up is an away trip to take on Aston Villa, a match they will be overwhelming favourites to win and should continue their impressive form. Chelsea were then scheduled to take on Manchester City but this has been postponed, so is going to be a very important match for both sides later on in the season.
Chelsea will then take on London rivals West Ham and this is another match they were be favourites to win. West Ham are continuing to struggle this season, so it sets up for a fine opportunity to gain more points. The Blues do then appear to have a very attractive run of fixtures until the end of the season, and will be expected to pick up many points from their remaining six Premier league matches and rate very solid contenders to maintain their position in the top four.
Next up with see them welcome Watford to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won the previous match 2-1 earlier this season and will again be expected to take the maximum points. They then take on another side at the bottom of the table in Crystal Palace and will again start as the overwhelming favourites to win the match.
Sheffield United are then next and they have been the real surprise package this season, continuing to battle it out for European football next season. This sets up for a tough challenge for Chelsea, who will be the favourites to take the three points. Chelsea then travel to Norwich, who look at but set to face relegation. This should be another important win for Chelsea.
The blues then finish with two difficult matches against Liverpool and Wolves. They will be hoping to have wrapped up the top four battle by now or this could set up for a nervy finish to the season for the blues.
However, the season has now come to a halt and no date has yet been given as to when and even if this will be completed. Let’s hope it is not a long wait and the action returns to our screens soon enough.
