Seven wins out of seven in all competitions - what a great run for Frank Lampard in his first season as the Chelsea manager. To have brought the youngsters in who are performing fantastically well alongside the likes of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic - both outstanding so far, Frank Lampard has a real problem now - How do you fit everyone into the team when fit?
Think of our performances in the last three games - Newcastle at home, Ajax away and Burnley, very different opponents and performances but all of them showed the excellent qualities this team now has in abundance under Lampard.
Newcastle was a game we knew we would dominate at home but it was about being able to play our way, in the style the manager wants to grind out three points. Newcastle turned up to defend first and then look to hit us on the counter-attack. They made life difficult but we managed to find a way to break the deadlock and take a much deserved/needed three points.
Ajax away was a different game altogether. We knew we would not dominate the game, we knew that they were a very dangerous team to play against so we had to be defensively solid, to work hard and to then use the ball in the right way. The whole team implemented the game plan perfectly and the manager made the right substitutions at the right time. We eventually scored a much deserved goal and the winner on a fantastic night for us.
Burnley was different again from the previous games. We knew we needed to dig in against a well-drilled side who will cause anyone problems but to use the quality we had to get a foothold in the game and to then try and take advantage in attacking areas. What played out in the first sixty minutes of the game was simply outstanding with Christian Pulisic taking the chance he was given to start the game. The point I am trying to make here is to think of the players who started these games and those who came on and had an influence. To remind you all, this does not include the likes of Toni Rudiger, Emerson, N'Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Pedro, Olivier Giroud and Andreas Christensen. Three or four of those will have to settle for a place on the bench or could even miss out completely if we are of the opinion that both Toni Rudiger and N'Golo Kante when fit are automatic starters. If they are who misses out? That's the big problem Frank Lampard has now.
I personally believe the situation with our midfield being a much tougher call to make than our defensive line. Despite the fact that he has been outstanding and has played really well, we can all agree that Rudiger will replace Kurt Zouma when he is back and ready to go. As I said, tough on Zouma but Rudiger is the main man.
Mateo Kovacic has given Frank Lampard the biggest problem here so far based on his all-round performances both with and without the ball. Once again we agree that N'Golo Kante is the best in his position and will automatically walk back into the side. Should that be as a direct replacement for Kovacic or should Frank Lampard seriously consider the 4-3-3 formation to be the main tactical approach we adopt between now and the end of the season to incorporate them all obviously next to Jorginho?
If that is the case, then one of our attacking three that have featured in the last three games needs to miss out to incorporate the additional central midfielder. Mason Mount, Willian, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic have all made good contributions so which two of the four miss out now (not even including Pedro who appears to have had enough now and is being tipped with a return to La Liga and Atletico Madrid - for odds on him leaving and more Chelsea check out these online betting sites)?
Any manager will tell you that what they want first and foremost is competition for places within their squad. The bonus is that those players competing take their chance and make telling contributions to give the manager a headache - which they will tell you is good to have, but as these games go by it's becoming a very real problem for Frank Lampard.
Just how does/should he fit them all in?
