There was plenty of comment made about Jose Mourinho, speaking as pundit after the game on Sky Sports yesterday afternoon but I must be honest, I didn’t and do not have any issues with what he said.
After the final whistle blew at Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon, the Chelsea faithful stayed on in their seats and paid tribute to the players and Frank Lampard for giving it there all, never giving up and for creating so many opportunities against the side with the best defensive Premier League record last season. But for another day, the outcome of the game would have been different.
As a result, the Sky cameras picked up on the fact that the fans were willing to stay behind and show their appreciation with images of Frank Lampard applauding all sections of the Chelsea supporters to acknowledge them.
When asked of the reaction from the supporters to the players despite losing the game 1-2, Jose Mourinho said:
"I hope they don’t get used to it [losing] – that’s the important thing.
When you start accepting defeats just because your team play well and your players gave it their best, in terms of their application and commitment.
"I think when you get used to it, big clubs stop being big clubs. It shows people are ready for the season and ready to accept what the season is going to be under a manager who is one of the best professionals and a potentially top manager.
"The numbers say Liverpool are 10 points ahead of Chelsea – they aren’t going to fight for the title." - Source: Evening Standard.
I see nothing wrong in what he is saying here. None of us like losing and for those of you who have been around Chelsea long enough, you will remember those times that were not so good, the old second division, the struggles we would have to finish mid-table and the pure elation if we managed to get a result against one of the bigger teams back then. In those days you would have expected a better successful result at https://www.casinojoka.com/fr than you would a Chelsea win.
We have been blessed with the most successful period in our history and we are all lucky enough to see that happen within our lifetime. Some will never experience or celebrate what we have and it’s something that we must be thankful for. But, in saying that, the more trophies and success you have, the more you want and that’s something that everyone at our football club wants from the owner to the manager, the players and the supporters.
OK, this time around with the transfer ban there seems to be a different approach with the manager being reportedly given time to bring the youngsters through and to play them if they are good enough. That doesn’t mean that Frank Lampard will not set his stall out to win games week-in, week-out, but it means that there is some leniency with expectations this season, which is much, much different than before.
Whatever your opinion of Jose Mourinho now, with his comments and his antics as Manchester United manager, just like he has won at crazyvegas, he will always be held in my heart or what he did to our football club and taking us that extra step forward. You can have all the money in the world but if you do not have the right direction, the right approach, the right desire, hunger and belief in what you are trying to achieve then you simply will not be where you want to be.
He installed a winning mentality at this football club and installed in everyone single one of us a belief in what we were trying to achieve. Through his time at the club on two separate occasions, he did exactly that. Deep down, he doesn’t want the club and its supporters to ever lose that which is why he said what he said.
