Now holding the record for the youngest foreign player to score in the German Premier Football League (Bundesliga), he is also the youngest player to ever score two goals in a single Bundesliga fixture; the youngest player to ever score for the USA national football team; the youngest player to ever captain the USA Men’s National Team and holding the honour of being the highest valued American player by way of transfer fee of all time.
These are just a few of the awards and records that Christian Pulisic has attained in the short career that he has had, at just 20 years old he looks to be a clear and bright bet for the future.
This year the young American is playing in the English Premier League, after his record breaking season in the Bundesliga, Chelsea will be his next port of call after coming from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea FC in January for £58 million ($78 million).
He has made his debut for the blues this season against Manchester United, although coming on as a substitute, he made his first start in the European Super Cup loss to Liverpool, this allowed the Chelsea fans to get a glimpse of the young man's talents.
Born in Pennsylvania
As an American native born in Pennsylvania to father Mark and mother Kelley Pulisic in 1998 he got the taste for football from an extremely early age.
His parents were both football players from a young age, both going on to play at the collegiate level at George Mason University, his father went on to play professional indoor football in the 1990s and later became a coach for multiple local teams.
Year in England's Green County
The young Pulisic’s passion for the sport bloomed thanks to a year that his family spent in the rural town of Tackle, near Oxford in Oxfordshire a county in the south east of the United Kingdom. During which time his mother was doing a teaching exchange in 2005 which was the reason for the relocation.
Keen to foster the interest in the sport that his son had already shown, Mark contacted local clubs to see if there was an opening for the seven-year-old, eventually plumping for the Northamptonshire club Brackley Town.
Getting Back Home
Although his footballing roots are in Pennsylvania, he was a part of the local US Soccer Development Academy Club, Pennsylvania (PA) Classics whc has been cited as a model for the MLS which the Unions corporation. His passion was truly fostered in England and the year he spent here, upon returning to Pennsylvania he re-joined the academy and continued his training
Off For the European Experience
Upon hitting 16 years old the young lad had multiple offers from across Europe to help further develop his game.
With the world at his feet, Barcelona (one of the largest Spanish clubs) was one of the first well known teams to offer the youngster a position at the time, along with Borussia Dortmund.
His father Mark made the decision for his son to join the German side, a club with a long history for transforming rough diamonds into highly polished and valued players. So, in February 2015, 16-year-old Pulisic joined the eight-time German champions
In the Dortmund academy set-up, the youth teams are well integrated with each other, with players regularly interchanging between the age groups and the senior side.
To help Pulisic acclimatise to the move to a foreign country, with an entirely new language, father Mark also came over to Dortmund and joined the club as a coach.
The Move to Chelsea FC To Be a Super Star
As the year was coming to a close and it got to November 2018, the young footballer just 2 months before the move to Chelsea was confirmed, Pulisic mentioned in an interview that he was more than open to a move to the Premier League in the UK
But due to a long string of injuries and losing his place to Jadon Sancho another rising superstar in the youth teams, a move from the German side looked less likely.
After spending the latter half of the 2018/19 season on loan back to his original team in Germany, after signing for Chelsea in January. The youngster managed to get back in to a solid form and started getting the Chelsea fans excited to see what he could do playing for his home club
Pulisic is joining a team that has lost the talisman Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, though club legend Frank Lampard has replaced Maurizio Sarri as manager.
