Hello everyone! Today due to time constraints there will be no updated Vlog so I thought I would write and post an article on here for a change! We focus on the latest with the manager, the transfer ban and the fixture announcement for the new season as we start away at Manchester United!
Maurizio Sarri back in Italy and intends to stay.
So to the current situation with the Chelsea Manager and at present, Maurizio Sarri remains in charge but for how long? The British press have reported that he has already moved out of his house in Surrey near the training ground and has moved his possessions back to Italy. It's clear that his intention is to return as has cited personal reasons in addition to being homesick. As stated in my Vlog posted a couple of days ago, many of his technical staff have also indicated that they would like to return to Italy.
So what of the Chelsea standpoint?
According to reports yesterday, the Chelsea board seem to be at loggerheads with each other over who should take over if Maurizio Sarri leaves. Some sections of the Chelsea board want him to stay because they feel that he has warranted the chance to continue with the third place finish, Europa League win and Carabao Cup final appearance. Others believe that the disconnect with the supporters (as noticed by Roman Abramovich which has reportedly started the ball rolling with discontent at previous performances/results) is a massive issue which as we know led to very public displays of frustration from a section of the Chelsea support.
There was even a suggestion posted yesterday that Chelsea (purely speculation of course) that the board had decided that they were going to try and convince the Italian to stay and see out the remainder of his contract which is two-years. I personally believe these reports to have little substance.
It is being reported within the latest 24-hours that Chelsea are willing to stand firm here on Sarri if he does want to leave. They are insistent on compensation for the remaining time left on his contract at Stamford Bridge to the tune of at least £5m. Juventus are trying to bargain with Chelsea but they are having none of it. If they want Sarri, and it looks like he wants to go, they need to pay up!
What's going on with Frank Lampard?
Derby County have stated that at the current time, there has been no approach for Frank Lampard from Chelsea. Reports this morning state that Chelsea would need to pay a compensation fee of around £3.5m to release him from his current deal along with Jody Morris. That's why Chelsea are also holding out for payment from Juventus.
We know that Frank Lampard has had initial contact from Chelsea to see if he would be interested in taking over but nothing concrete as yet but I wonder if our new Sporting Director - Petr Cech will be involved in any formal negotiations?
The dreaded transfer ban latest.
It looks as thought the CAS will not deal with or hear the appeal made by Chelsea against the transfer ban ruling until after this summers transfer window. As a result, Chelsea will have to serve the ban which should change the course of our approach in the coming weeks as we prepare for pre-season starting 14th July.
The ideal scenario would have been for the ban to be suspended for a window to allow the manager/new manager time to make some expensive signings to bolster our squad now we know that the likes of Eden Hazard and Gary Cahill are leaving with more to be expected for certain (Higuain/Kovacic possibly Alonso). With then being forced to accept the ban over the next two windows, Chelsea would easily fall under the FFP requirements.
Now it seems that the club has to take stock of ALL of the players we have on our books in addition to Christian Pulisic who was signed back in January. Expect the more experienced players to come back into the fold next season such as Kurt Zourma, Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko in addition to Danny Drinkwater. Hopefully, alongside Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.
