With the impending transfer ban on the horizon (before any CAS appeal) and Chelsea looking to make major changes to the club as whole from the manager to the playing staff, I thought I would take a look at the FIVE players due to return from loan that should be implemented into our first team squad next season to enable us to maintain our challenge for the top four.
Michy Batshuayi.
The Belgian has performed well whenever he has been given the opportunity whether it has been at Chelsea, Dortmund and now Crystal Palace. He is someone that has an instinct for goals and has nothing to prove to anyone in my view. He offers us something different up top to Olivier Giroud who as we know will remain at the club next season and should be the natural replacement for Gonzalo Higuain who should return to Juventus.
Reece James
The 20-year old has taken massive strides forward this season at Wigan and is now almost guaranteed a place within our squad next season. Todd Kane and Ola Aina could be sold as a result of just how well James has performed and would be the perfect back-up for Cesar Azpilicueta. Davide Zappacosta will leave in the summer.

Kurt Zouma
The natural replacement for Gary Cahill already on our books ahead of the likes of Matt Miazga, Michael Hector and Tomas Kalas. Zouma has performed well for Everton this season making the position his own for the most part. It’s been Zouma +1 for Marco Silva and it’s time that he is given the opportunity at Chelsea. With Sarri gone this summer, there will be a focus on defending for once rather than what you can do with the ball at your feet which will suit him down to the ground. He’s just ahead of Fikayo Tomori in my view and it’s expected that he will extend his loan period with Derby for another season.
Mason Mount
An excellent season for the midfielder who has impressed all of us with his mature performances which have caught the eye under the guidance of Frank Lampard and Jody Morris at Derby. With the playoff final to play this weekend (check out the latest odds on that game here at betting online) he has a chance to demonstrate his ability with the ball at his feet in the richest game of football there is. Surely, he needs to be implemented in our first-team squad next year.
Tiemoue Bakayoko
Now some people will scoff at this, but I think this guy can have a future at our club. OK, his first season wasn’t the best and for a period at AC Milan this season he was outstanding, but I believe under the right manager he could be a star for Chelsea. We all witnessed his performances and influence in games when he played for Monaco. He was imposing, athletic and someone who could also score goals. If Jorginho leaves with Sarri, I say bring him back.
There are the five names I believe should be implemented into our first team squad next season. For me there is a mix of experience and youth that would really benefit the squad with some older players leaving. Of course Chelsea will keep the majority of their squad intact for next season to ensure that we remain strong, but it's time to invest in the players already have on our books to give ourselves the best chance of a top four finish next year.
