With news breaking today that Eden Hazard has made a decision two months ago of his future in an interview published with a French Magazine, and with the decision expected to be to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid, I am wondering what you the football fan reading this post thinks of the situation?
Let’s start by saying that Eden Hazard has been outstanding for Chelsea ever since he walked through the doors at Stamford Bridge. He has made an incredible impact at our club and in the Premier League being voted player of the year and being touted as one of the three best footballers in world football behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The contribution he has made to our success since he arrived cannot be underestimated. His skill and trickery, his ability to create something from nothing if it’s an assist or to score himself, Eden Hazard has been a pivotal part of our recent history.
During his time at the club there have been good times and bad times, managers / head-coaches have come and gone and there remains a period of uncertainty now under Maurizio Sarri. Some people are now of the opinion that during the bad times, Eden Hazard was partly the reason and have made ridiculous claims that he is a “toxic influence” in the dressing room. It’s my view that this opinion could not be further from the truth.
We have to accept the fact that for him it’s always been his dream to play for Real Madrid. If we are all honest here, many of us thought that he would have already left our club to sign for them last season or even the season before. It never happened. He remains here for the time being. If he is given the opportunity to make his mark in La Liga playing for the most successful club in Europe then you have to expect him to take it. To be finally considered for his other dream the Balon D’or award would complete the second of his goals in additional to winning the Champions League. Let’s face it, he would have more chance of doing that at Madrid than at Chelsea!!
The point I am trying to make here is that life goes on. No player is bigger than our cub and if a player wants to leave or shows an indication that they are no longer committed to our cause then there is nothing we can do about it. In some cases, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth (Thibaut Courtois) but with Eden Hazard it would be totally different. He has earned the right to decide what he wants to do for what he has achieved here and his overall performance based on the time he has spent at Chelsea Football Club.
We just hope that we can get the maximum money for him and look to invest in one or two class replacements to try and deal with losing such a talent. I am sure that Chelsea will not stand in his way but would want appropriate compensation. Let’s hope that Eden Hazard thrives at Chelsea between now and the end of the season before he leaves for Madrid!
