Chelsea take on Manchester United in the FA Cup tomorrow evening and I have to admit that for the first time in years I am dreading watching this because of what the outcome could be.
Yes, Chelsea could play well, deliver a good performance and a result which we all know that they are more than capable of on any given night if we purely focus on the players we have. Yes, I believe that Manchester United's defence isn't the best and given the right opportunities, we can attack them to create plenty of chances. It's a cup-tie, anything can happen on the night and watching these two teams of late, I would expect an entertaining, high scoring game so make sure you download the bet365 app for the latest odds.
The problem I have, and I have mentioned it a few times now, is that we have a manager who believes in a flawed tactical philosophy with the players at his disposal. He persists with Jorginho playing just in front of the back-four to play with the ball at his feet. Without it, he is useless and a real liability as you can see here in this article posted earlier today.
Despite the fact that Manchester United have Lingard and Martial confirmed as absentees for the game, they still have plenty of an attacking threat in behind and also in front of our back-four that can cause problems. With Paul Pogba on form operating as a box-to-box midfielder and creating chances with a willing runner in front in Marcus Rashford, we will need to protect our defence and I will never see Jorginho doing it.
This has all the makings of being a high-scoring, entertaining game with the outcome being determined by who scores the most on the night. It sounds ridiculous to say it but that is how Chelsea have become now with our inability to remain a solid and compact unit.
If, and I mean if, we can give the ball to Eden Hazard as often as possible, he will create opportunities for Gonzalo Higuain who, let's face it, must have wondered what he has walked into based on what has happened to us in our last few Premier League games.
This one can go one way or the other. I cannot for the life of me see this being a dull and boring game. I can only hope that we create more chances and score more than United to go through.
As I said however, for the first time in years, I am dreading watching this one against United tomorrow night. What do you people think?
