Everything You Should Do at a Chelsea Home Game
For fans who aren’t lucky enough to live close by to Stamford Bridge, going to watch the Blues is an experience that isn’t enjoyed nearly enough. So, when you do head to a home game, you want to make sure you make the most of your time there. From the best places to start the day off right to the best time to pick up souvenirs of the game, here are a few tips on how to make the most of a visit to watch Chelsea.
Prepare with a top breakfast
Getting a good breakfast in will set you up for the day ahead and luckily there are plenty of spots to choose from. The Imperial Arms is a great option and the pub itself is also ideal for a pre-match drink too if you want to stick to one place before the game. For a more affordable option, Love Walk Café on Jerden Place is close to the ground and does a great full English. Eating beforehand is advisable as food and drink in the stadium can get pretty pricey.
Get the pre-game pints in
You’ll no doubt enjoy a bit of pre-match banter so find a Chelsea supporters pub and soak up the atmosphere to get you ready for the game. There are many pubs in the area who will only cater to Chelsea ticket holders but checking out a few forums beforehand will let you know where the loudest supporters will be congregating. If you’re in a hurry, the Wetherspoons pub Oyster Rooms is great for a quick pint and an affordable meal, while The Butcher’s Hook can be found directly opposite the ground and is a comfortable spot with a well-stocked bar. Not close enough? Frankie’s Sports Bar and Diner is situated directly in the stadium complex.
Test your luck before the match
If you fancy taking a punt on how the game will unfold, there are various bookmakers within the stadium where you can place a bet and betting here will add a particular charm to the day. If you’d rather beat the crowds though, if you’re not one for waiting in line you can always open up your phone and place a bet with InfoGol It’ll certainly make it easier if you do wind up winning something, as you won’t need to wait around to collect your winnings.
Buy a souvenir from the megastore
You’ll probably see a number of stalls down Fulham Road selling Chelsea scarves and hats, but if you want the official items then you’ll need to get to the megastore early to avoid the massive crowds and chaos that will ensue as the match begins to kick off. If the thought of being jammed into a stadium shop isn’t appealing for you, you can always go to the smaller Britannia Gate store but you might still be able to pick up what you’re after post-match if you don’t manage to get to the megastore in time. From here, it’s time to head into the ground, find your seat and prepare to sing your heart out in celebration of a Chelsea victory.
