Belgium’s star men in this summers World Cup

The World Cup has now arrived with England fans heading in to the competition with more hope rather than expectation. This is certainly fair considering what occurred back in 2016 when being knocked out by now 22 ranked Iceland in the round of 16 at the Euros. This rather summed up the decline the national side was in at the time but there has been some changes in recent times so could England just shock a few people and progress to the later stages of the tournament?

England have been drawn in a favourable group with the only major threat looking to be Belgium as Tunisia and Panama look far below the level required. The latest Betfair World Cup odds have Belgium in at 10/1 to go all the way and land the trophy which would be an incredible achievement of the now 3^rd ranked side considering they were ranked 66^th in the World back in 2009. England on the other hand are currently ranked in 13^th which is a fair assessment of where the team is at and that is also shown in the fact they are 16/1 with Betfair to land the trophy in Russia.

Belgium are also priced at 8/13 in comparison to 13/10 shots England to top the group which comes as no surprise considering the strength in depth of the Belgium squad. Both sides are also heavily odds on to proceed through the weak looking. Belgium are priced at 1/33 to do so and England 1/12. So who are the key dangers to watch out for in Group G for England? One Belgium player who is certainly known to all England fans is Chelsea star Eden Hazard. The 27 year old continues to play a major role for Chelsea with rumours again circling over a big move to the likes of Real Madrid. Chelsea are coming off the back of a poor league campaign but did win the FA Cup thanks to a first half penalty from Hazard. He will be hoping to bring in that form to the Belgium side so they can progress to the latter end of the tournament. The Belgium captain is part of the incredible era of talent for the nation and if they are ever going to win a World Cup this is likely to be it. The first key clash for England is against Belgium in what is set to be one of the most anticipated matches of the Group stage in Russia.
