As we build up to the big event this weekend - The FA Cup Final, I want to hear from as many Chelsea fans as possible on your opinions of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach now the season has ended. Are you Conte in or are you Conte out?
I just want to point out that I have no intention to make people a scapegoat or incite negative opinion amongst others. I love my club with a passion, I stand there and support every single person connected with our club and those that represent us on the pitch in every game. But, there comes as time when you know that things are not right and problems that affect what happens to us coupled with our financial future. It's at those moments that you give your opinions.
Having sat through that performance against Newcastle on Sunday - which in my view was only beaten by Manchester City away to the worst performance of the whole season, I tweeted that we had to get rid of Antonio Conte now if we are to have a chance of victory against Manchester United this weekend in the FA Cup Final. I had stated that I would then put Jody Morris in charge of the first team because let's face it, we couldn't get any worse.
As time moves on though it's becoming clear that the Italian - who remains a shadow of the man we all fell in love with last year, is going nowhere and is not prepared to walk away from his contract. It's also seems that the club are unwilling to sack him at this stage because they do not want to face paying out Antonio Conte and his staff to the tune of millions. So, we are left with Antonio Conte being in charge this weekend.
The thing is, we know that Antonio Conte proved to be a tactical genius last year because he had a Plan A, Plan B and also a Plan C. This year is very different as there is no sign of the Italian making changes to try and influence games from the sidelines. Those changes that are made are decisions that are made either too late or just the wrong ones with Ross Barkley this weekend being a prime example.
OK, he hadn't featured for most of the season but on Sunday he showed a desire to try and create something for us alongside Eden Hazard. He was denied twice which was unlucky but most importantly of all, he actually looked like he was determined to change the outcome of the game knowing that we were not playing well at all.
So what happens? He gets substituted! That's what I am talking about and it's being going on all season.
If Chelsea get beaten on Saturday and lose our second FA Cup Final in two seasons we finish the year with nothing but disappointment compared to the elation 12-months ago. In my view, if we deliver yet another below par and second rate performance it would be a clear indication that the players are not having in anymore.
If we win it then at least we have something positive to remember the season. I have to say I am not confident at all compared to last year. Players are playing for their immediate futures in my view alongside the manager and we expect a performance of players that want to play for the shirt, for the club and for the supporters long-term.
We have dropped so many points this year, we have played so badly at times and have a complete lack of ideas. That's the biggest problem for me and Manchester City away is a performance I will not forget or forgive.
For me, as much as I stood by Antonio Conte from the moment he arrived, backed him when times were difficult, it was the Tottenham home defeat followed by the Manchester City away game that changed my opinion and I remain Antonio Conte out into this summer. I can't help it, I have simply seen enough of below par, second rate performances from him in addition to the football team.
So, I finish this blog post with a simple question now that the season has finished:
Are you Antonio Conte in or Antonio Conte out?
