As Huddersfield and their fans celebrated their Premier League survival away in the far corner of the ground, the Chelsea players waited patiently in the centre circle to complete their customary lap of honour to thank the supporters for their support during the past season. The problem was, most of the 43,000 supporters had already gone home!
That pretty much says it all doesn't it really and if anything should be the biggest indication to the players and the current manager that we are not prepared to pay our monies and put up with watching the same shit this season that we had to sit through two seasons ago. OK, we still have faint hope of finishing inside the top four if Brighton can do us a favour on Sunday at Liverpool but although two years ago we finished 10th, this season feels just as bad believe me.
The game last night was yet another perfect example of how our season has played out this time around. Think of the quality we have on paper compared to their hard-working, battling outfit. Anyone in their right mind or with common sense would have expected Chelsea to turn them over, to score three or four if we had played our best which to me means a higher tempo, moving the ball quickly with plenty of movement off the ball. As we all witnessed, it didn't happen making it god knows how many times this year and we shoot ourselves in the foot once again.
The biggest message the supporters can give is to vote with the feet on match-day. Unfortunately, because of our success and the levels our club has reached within football, there is always going to be those that want tickets for one reason or another, the so-called supporters, those who like to go because it's something different or those who just want to say that they have been to a football match once in their life. Even the worst possible people - bloody tourists.
It's the core of our support that has been there for decades, through thick and thin, the good times and the bad times and those who live and breathe Chelsea that had a chance to let their feet do the talking after the final whistle.
Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskyia - do me a favour and just look at how many people were still standing there when the players walked around the pitch - that speaks volumes!
Sort this shit out this summer!
