According to reports, Roman Abramovich is prepared to give Antonio Conte time at Chelsea if he stops complaining about transfers.
That statement seems ridiculous to me as it’s clear that the passionate Italian is unhappy with the situation he finds himself in here. As with any other manager that has come in since Roman Abramovich took over, you need to adhere to and toe the line when it comes to signings.
It’s safe to say that Claudio Ranieri was given plenty of input to who he wanted when our Russian owner stunned the footballing world with his extravagant outlay the first time around. In addition, we must believe that Jose Mourinho was also given the same (or demanded) when he convinced the board to get the deals done early for Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa. For all others, it seems to be the case that you are there to manage the players we have here and to pretty much get on with it.
Roman Abramovich’s record speaks for itself and it’s an easy counter argument against anyone who tries to convince him and the Chelsea board to change their transfer policy. But, in saying that, he has been in the game long enough to know when we have a special talent within our ranks and for the majority of his time at the club, Antonio Conte as been exactly that.
It’s clear if we sit back, think of the season so far and how it has been played out, think of our last two games against Manchester United (second half) and Manchester City and admit that things are not good between the head-coach and the board. So much so, I changed tact totally after one of the worst ever Chelsea performances I have seen at City and called for Antonio Conte to leave the club now if that was his wish to go and have a break playing sloty casino free spins or something before he finds another job. I said that because it’s having a detrimental effect on everything now.
If it turns out to be an issue with the players themselves and the Italian intends to remain at Chelsea, then things need to be addressed as quickly as possible. According to this report featured here, it seems that Roman has no intention of acting quickly before the season ends to sack Conte, on the contrary, he wants to keep him here but has become sick and tired (like all of us) of the Italian’s constant public complaint of the policy as he does indirectly in his press conferences.
With Crystal Palace coming on tomorrow evening at Stamford Bridge followed by Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Wednesday in the Champions League, Antonio Conte and the Chelsea players need to regroup and refocus to deliver the right results and performances to rebuild confidence.
It’s such a crucial time for Chelsea right now and it’s essential that we all pull together as one in the stands and throughout the club as a whole. We have the quality and the players to finish inside the top four this season which would be a success because if offered that at the beginning of the year, knowing we had Champions League football again to cope with, any Chelsea fan would have bitten your hand off to take it.
Then, Roman Abramovich and Antonio Conte must sit down and talk things through to sort out our plan moving forward into next season.
