Chelsea take on Crystal Place at Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening and it is now the biggest game of our season.
We sit five points behind Tottenham in fifth place in the Premier League and outside the top four. We have suffered a horrible run of results over the past few weeks that had all come to a head against Manchester City last Sunday. We simply need a result and if possible a performance against Palace tomorrow before we head out to Barcelona in midweek.
We are due to hear Antonio Conte’s press conference in a couple of hours time (for when this post is written) and as you can imagine, it’s not going to be all smiles at Cobham with the press who will look to take our head coach to task over our performance and tactics in that game. As I said at the time, defensively without the ball I had no problem with, It was what we did with the ball that was the most disappointing thing for me.
So to tomorrow’s game and I am honest, you would be better off taking a chance on spinit casino free spins than you would trying to predict our starting eleven for this one against Palace who have an obvious threat up front in Benteke and the fit again Zaha who punished us here last season.
We know that David Luiz is out with injury, Tiemoue Bakayoko has picked up a knock in training and is also out but Ross Barkley is back in contention for the game along with N’Golo Kante having fainted at training last week ahead of City. Kante had been sent to medical tests and everything came back clear which is great news and he should walk straight back into the side.
Ideally, we should be able to look forward with one-eye on the Barcelona game on Wednesday when it comes to the team selection for this one but now we cannot afford to do that with the position we have put ourselves in. We must play our best eleven week in, week out between now and the end of the season.
In saying that, I would go with our tried and trusted 3-4-3 formation with my starting eleven picked as follows:
Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill, Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso, Willian, Morata and Hazard.
It’s a must win game. Come on Chelsea for god sake!
