Chelsea have confirmed that Charly Musonda has joined Brendan
Rodgers at Celtic on an 18-month loan deal. In my opinion he must come back
here stronger and ready to start games at Chelsea.
There will be plenty of people that are upset or complain about
the move for the exciting Belgian talent and I can understand that to a point. However,
it’s clear that he needs to improve his physical frame and his strength if he
is to challenge our first eleven to play in the Premier League week in, week
out.
So far, this season for Chelsea he has impressed with cameo appearances
in the Carabao Cup scoring his first goal at Stamford Bridge and the few
appearances he has made coming on as substitute in games with his assist for
our fourth goal against Brighton as a particular highlight. His pass to Victor
Moses was sublime and carved their defence wide open.
However, that’s all good but we need Musonda to really kick on now
and play regularly in competitive, physical football to improve his game and I
agree with a move to Celtic.
According to reports, there were 24 clubs in for Musonda to take
him on loan this month which is a staggering amount with Leganes in La Liga
proving to be the main rival for his signature to Celtic but in my view, La
Liga does not represent the best challenge at this stage in his career having
already spent time on loan at Real Betis so heading up north is the better
option. It seems that the club are of the same opinion.
Charly Musonda is now 21-years-old and is at a critical time in
his career. He has just signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract extension at
Chelsea to keep him here until 2022 and now must accelerate his career by
making the best out of this move.
In Scotland he will face a physical game, faced paced at times and
of course heated when it comes to the old-firm games. He needs to demonstrate
that he can cope with the attention his much-publicised move has received as he
will now become a target for the opposition.
We know he has the talent and fantastic ability. It’s now time to prove
you can deal with the physical demands of the game and come back here stronger
to instantly challenge for a regular start at Chelsea.
Good Luck Charly!
