Chelsea now have a more than favourable run of games taking us to Arsenal on January 2nd during the busy month of December with the hectic Christmas and New Year period just weeks away. I expect Chelsea to take maximum points from every single game to the new year.
To do that I want to see Antonio Conte alter our system back to the 3-4-3 formation for this month. I want to see player rotation because it's all-important with the amount of games we have to play and I really want us to go after this sides, play on the front foot and close the gap on Manchester City.
Forgetting the disappointment of Liverpool and Swansea, the other two recent Premier League games we have played we have scored SEVEN goals having conceded just one. A great 4-0 win over West Brom and last weeks 3-1 victory over Newcastle despite going a goal behind.
We must use these games to stretch the squad and to give our important players a rest such as Eden Hazard, Tiemoue Bakayoko who has suffered lately and Alvaro Morata. I'm not saying in every game, but with games coming think and fast, West Ham is an ideal opportunity for the likes of Rudiger, Drinkwater, Pedro, Willian and Michy Batshuayi to all come into the side.
From what I have seen of West Ham under David Moyes they have no choice but to adopt a defend first mentality. OK, they were unlucky against Manchester City last week but this is a different game for me because the home fans will expect a performance and a result so they will have no choice but to play a different way by stepping forward ten yards and look to attack us which, in turn, would leave plenty of space for what would be our front three to attack them at every opportunity.
By playing a front three, we would have added protection in our midfield with the combination of Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante reunited in the middle, doing what they did best for Leicester a couple of seasons ago so I would have no concerns.
With Manchester City facing Manchester United on Sunday, this is an ideal opportunity to close the gap on City with hopefully Jose Mourinho doing us a favour by getting a result.
We must attack West Ham, we must play on the front foot, at a high tempo and dominate the game even with the changes I have suggested.
CD's starting eleven:
Courtois, Zappacosta, Alonso, Cahill (c), Christensen, Azpilicueta, Drinkwater, Kante, Pedro, Willian and Batshuayi.
COME ON CHELSEA!!
Can't believe what I just saw...bereft of ideas
