In the biggest game of the weekend, Liverpool's attacking threat takes on the threat that Chelsea pose and whoever manages to maintain their defensive solidity will win the game.
For Chelsea it's a must win game without question, we must keep the pace with Manchester City who face Huddersfield tomorrow and without being disrespectful are expected to win the game. If we can win the game we make it five straight wins in the league heading into some more than favourable fixtures leading up to the end of the year.
So what about the game today? Well, from a Chelsea point of view they will well aware of the attacking threat that Liverpool post with Mane', Firminho, Salah and Coutinho. As a result, I predict that Antonio Conte will revert from our attacking three up front against FC Qarabag back to our three-man midfield with Eden Hazard playing as the out-and-out number ten behind Alvaro Morata up front.
Tiemoue Bakayoko and N'Golo Kante will be busy in midfield as they look to hunt down the ball, close it down, win it back to give it to Cesc Fabregas or Eden Hazard to create opportunities for us going forward. That's what Fabregas gives Chelsea and he has pretty much become one of the first names on the team-sheet and fair play to him.
The biggest question that requires an answer will be in our back three this afternoon. For me Toni Rudiger hasn't done anything wrong since he has been here as he tries to adjust to our football, our philosophy with another good game in midweek. However, I expect Gary Cahill to come back in on the left hand side. Cesar Azpilicueta will continue on the right and despite a good performance in midweek, David Luiz will drop to the bench to allow the impressive Andreas Christensen to come back into the side to play through the middle.
Is our defensive three with the two wing-backs dropping into position being supported by Bakayoko and Kante enough to deal with Liverpool? I think so, well all hope so.
Now going forward, we will know if we are up for this one after five-ten minutes of the game. If Eden Hazard is busy, looking for the ball and in that period already causing problems then we are up and it to cause Liverpool plenty of issues. Based on their midweek performance you would have to think that the Liverpool crowd will be more than wary of their defensive frailties. If we can start well, dominate the ball and create good chances the crowd will become anxious and that should hopefully filter through to the players on the pitch.
The trio of Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata have built an understanding with each other now, they know the runs they need to make for Cesc to play them in and most importantly of all, Eden Hazard has developed an instinctive relationship with Morata knowing where the other one is with their flicks to each other - take Morata's outstanding assist for Hazard's goal last weekend as a perfect example.
Liverpool will always create problems for anyone they play because of the attacking threat they pose but throughout the course of a season defensive mistakes will hurt you. Chelsea has the attacking threat to cause them plenty this afternoon and it's how they try to deal with it that could play a high part in the outcome of this one.
Despite a disappointing performance losing 0-1 to City and the draw with Arsenal, Chelsea have beaten Tottenham at Wembley and United at home, Liverpool are the last of our top six rivals we face.
Can Chelsea maintain their defensive solidity to give our attackers the platform to go and play to deliver our fifth Premier League win in-a-row?
