After a lengthy lay-off this summer due to injury, Eden Hazard is finally back to his best with impressive and inspirational performances leading to links with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Having led the line in Antonio Conte's false-nine formation in our victory over FC Qarabag last night and qualification into the last 16, Eden Hazard has once again had to answer questions of his immediate Chelsea future with links to Real Madrid being discussed.
Now as we know it seems that every couple of months people talk of Hazard leaving Chelsea to move onto the likes of Real Madrid despite stating that he remains focused and committed to Chelsea.
According to various reports, Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a new contract offer to secure Hazard's Chelsea future stating that he could be offered a massive £300,000 a week deal. We are yet to hear more on those reports so it will be interesting to see what happens but it's clear that Chelsea need to tie him down to a contract here as long as possible because he really is something special.
So to the man himself and his response to questions linking him with a move to Real Madrid. He said:
"I am always very fine at this club. I still have two years of my contract [left]. When I feel the desire to leave, I’ll leave. But, for now, I’m a Blue.
We know the admiration that I have for Real, but I’m at Chelsea. Every year, things were said about me but I stayed.
In Lille, I was announced in Paris, but I stayed. And in Chelsea, people always said that I’m leaving, but I’m still here.” - Source: Mirror.
These rumours are never going to go away because of how good he is but he has always stated that he is already playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world having no desire to leave. He still has work to do to be considered for the Ballon D'or but if he continues to impress in the Champions League this season as he has started, with hopefully Chelsea making their way through in the competition as far as they can, I see no reason why Hazard couldn't win that here.
Let's hope his fine form and commitment to Chelsea continues.
