Chelsea head to Selhurst Park this afternoon having waited two weeks to put right the wrongs of Manchester City and will inflict our hosts' eighth Premier League defeat in a row.
Now I know that sounds borderline obnoxious and arrogant but I do not mean it to be that way. I am just looking at the facts ahead of the game, of our manager, the two squads and both of our current situations and cannot see anything other than a Chelsea win. Now if you add to that the fact that we were awful two weeks ago, with a devoted manager addicted to hard work and world class players at his disposal who would have all hurt after their individual performances two weeks ago, you will understand where I am coming from.
OK, Chelsea will be without the impressive Alvaro Morata which is a big blow, N'Golo Kante who is the hardest working midfielder in the game in addition Danny Drinkwater, I still think that Chelsea will have too much for our hosts and win the game.
The biggest questions ahead of the game are based around who starts and where for Chelsea? Will Antonio Conte finally give Michy Batshuayi the regular starts over the next few weeks that he craves? Will David Luiz step into midfield giving Andreas Christensen a run in the side? Will Eden Hazard be given the ultimate licence to attack and play as a striker?
The manager himself made it very clear in his press conference yesterday when he said that he does not look to change too much referring to changing players positions which indicates that almost all of us can pick our starting eleven this afternoon barring one or two differences of opinion.
This is my starting eleven:
Courtois, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill (c), Zappacosta, Alonso, Fabregas, Bakayoko, Pedro, Hazard and Batshuayi.
As I said, I am more than confident in our boys this afternoon to go out there, get the job done first and foremost to then hopefully kick on sending a message to the Premier League.
Anything other than three points is a disaster. Come on Chelsea!
Halftime and "disaster" appears to be looming.......
ReplyDeleteI did say on an earlier blog that Palace would almost certainly score and that may be enough. No surprise for me, same old Chelsea, awful performance, no excuses, just not good enough.
Deletewhat has happened in the last few games. We were brilliant against A Madrid, but have fallen away sharply. Man City are light years ahead. Same old win the league and do not reinforce. We need a Drogba desperately.
ReplyDeleteWe were also poor against Arsenal but got away with it. If you look at our last few games sadly its the Madrid performance that stands out as being odd. I don't believe our situation has come as a surprise at all to Conte but, as always at Chelsea whoever is manager, Emanalo knows best.
DeleteWhen is Eden Hazard going to turn up on a regular basis?...
ReplyDeleteWhat's the odds on the Sunday press stating "Goals are like buses at Palace......."? Unless of course Lineker beats them to it on MOTD (which I shan't be watching).
