Chelsea’s sponsorship deals tally up to one of the biggest
in football history, according to the latest infographic from Betfair.
Yokohama Rubber Company are sponsoring us roughly £60
million per season as both the main shirt sponsor and on the sleeves.
This ranks fifth on Betfair’s chart, with Manchester
United’s £75 million deal with Chevrolet and Adidas topping us among Premier
League sides.
German giants Bayern Munich currently raise £65 million per
season through sponsorship, which includes their stadium; the Allianz Arena,
where we won the 2013 Champions League.
Bayern dominate the Bundesliga and were runaway winners once
again last season, under former-Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti. It does seem that half of Germany supports
them!
The top two are the biggest two football clubs in the
world. In second place is Real Madrid,
as they have been to Barcelona in La Liga for a number of seasons recently.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have made a woeful start to the new
season, meaning a runners-up place in La Liga may be the best finish for the
world football giants this season. They
are reportedly bringing in £85 million per season through their sponsorship
deals and a whopping £380 million in other revenue. It’s a surprise they haven’t been involved in
a world record transfer deal for a couple of seasons!
Real Madrid are actually the front runners in the Champions League betting with Betfair giving them the shortest odds, at 5.8.
Barcelona top the chart by earning a staggering £140 million
through sponsorship revenue. This is a
club who had never worn a sponsor on their shirt until a few seasons ago.
The Catalan club also rake in a further £325 million in
other revenue. It helps playing football
in a huge stadium in one of the best cities in the world!
