Antonio Conte takes his Chelsea side (who are in apparent turmoil) to Wembley for Tottenham's first Premier League game in their temporary home live on SkySports on Sunday at 4pm UK Time.
If you want to read the opinion of member of the press, the media, ex-footballers turned pundits and anyone else this week for that matter, then Chelsea are in a mess, the Manager is on the verge of quitting and our season will be over if we are defeated on Sunday.
For those of you who read my call for calm, those who have a realistic view on what they read in the press/media and those that are happy to ignore all the bullshit that has been spoken this week, then I see things very differently and it would be very foolish to write Chelsea off. Think back to a year ago, virtually the same thing happened with reports that the manager was under pressure and look what happened!
The negative aspects of the game heading into are the obvious with Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas missing through suspension while we await news on Pedro from Antonio in his press conference later today.
Now that's done with, we can focus on the positives and there are plenty of them. Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko came through a behind closed doors game against QPR yesterday as Chelsea won 8-0 with Hazard scoring twice.
Victor Moses returns from his one match ban for his sending off back in the FA Cup Final and will slot straight back into his position as our right wing-back with Cesar Azpilicueta (who will captain the side) moving back inside to partner David Luiz and Toni Rudiger in the back three. Marcos Alonso will continue down our left hand side and that immediately makes me feel better knowing that we have FIVE or last seasons victorious SIX playing with the only change being Rudiger for Cahill.
So into Midfield and the obvious problem we have with N'Golo Kante looking for the right partnership in those vital positions on Sunday. There has been talk of David Luiz stepping forward or Cesar Azpilicueta to partner the Frenchman for their defensive ability but I beg to differ and can see one of two things happening. Firstly, Bakayoko comes straight into the side if he feels no ill-effects from the game yesterday which would be massive as we hope that a partnership develops between these two that helps provide a solid base to build on. Secondly, if Pedro is back, I can see Willian being asked to drop deep next to Kante for his energy.
I doubt very much that Eden Hazard would be fit enough to start the game and should be named on the bench with Pedro and Willian starting supporting Alvaro Morata up front (if Bakayoko starts). If not, then with Willian dropping deep, I would give a chance to Charly Musonda to show what he could do.
As I have said in my call for calm, when we have everyone fit and available, we are right up there with the best sides in the Premier League. You look at our possible starting eleven on Sunday and surely you can only be confident knowing that we are still a good side and have more than enough to get three points on Sunday!
My Chelsea starting eleven (ignore the old shirts):
Good article, strong team alright. Just on problem with it, if Spurs play the type of football their capable of we are going to be in trouble. We could still win but just as easily lose by 3 or so goals. They have a stronger first 11 & a better manager. I still expect us to win the title though.
ReplyDeleteWow how enlightening you are,-we could win!!but could lose!! you forgot about a draw,or is that not-possible.and Poch the ;better-manager; on what basis do you say that?has he won a league here yet,or anywhere come to that, you need to re-check Conte,s stats.he,s a good manager I will agree, but there,s plenty of them about.
DeleteIf Baka won't start,i'd love to see Luiz up alongside Kante then Christiensen to occupy the back
