Four signings for £170m - Here are the players Conte wants Chelsea to sign before the window closes.
With just under two weeks remaining in the transfer window, Antonio Conte has eyes on FOUR English transfer targets totalling a cool £17...

It's clear that we need to bolster the numbers within our squad to maintain a realistic challenge for honours this season domestically and to put up a fight for the Champions League this season. Having decided that Michy Batshuayi has done enough to remain at Chelsea to fight for a first team start with new signing Alvaro Morata, Antonio Conte has identified two defenders and two midfielders.
DEFENDERS:
Danny Rose - Tottenham - Estimated cost - £50m if Daniel Levy agrees to let him go.
What is there to say about Danny Rose despite the obvious fact that he has seen his mate lose his place in the Tottenham side last season, spend the latter part on the bench to then somehow, manage to get a move to Manchester City for £50m. It's not coincidence at all that just last week Rose has come out and spoken against Tottenham trying to force a move out of the club and to get his slice of the action away from the Northern part of the city!
As far as footballing ability goes, he has obvious talent with a temperament to match. No doubt he is cracking going forward but in saying that, you have to wonder about his defensive attributes. He's a player who likes to get forward and would be a willing worker up and down Antonio Conte team's left hand side as a wing-back. The fee would be overpriced and extortionate despite the fact that I cannot for see Levy willing to entertain any conversations about his players with Chelsea.
Is he a better option that Marcos Alonso? Defensively Yes. Going forward? Not so sure.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - Arsenal - Estimated cost - £40m.
The "Ox" being linked with Chelsea excites me. Someone who can play in a number of positions but of late, has really impressed playing as a wing-back on the right hand side. We are all aware that his favoured position is in midfield but if there is a possibility that he can be convinced to jump ship from North to South-West London and become part of the Conte revolution I am sure he would be willing to do a job because let's face it, he has more chance of winning the Premier League here than over there!
He is someone with a massive amount of ability, talent, skill and most importantly pace in the modern game. He would need to work on his defensive attributes but surely working under an Italian coach he would adapt in no time just as Victor Moses has?
Every manager would love to have as many versatile players to count on within their squad and Oxlade-Chamberlain would give us that with the fact that he is English even better. Sign him up!
Danny Drinkwater - Leicester - Estimated cost - £40m.
I am sure like me there have been plenty of people surprised with the fact that we are being linked with a move for the hard-working midfielder as he isn't exactly one of the biggest names in the game is he (if we are honest - no offence)?
However, if you want to be successful you need the right blend of players in your squad. It's all well and good having the players that can turn the game on it's head in an instant or someone that can take on six players, beat them and find the bottom corner of the net. What you also need is the workers, the grafters who are willing to do the donkey work, the ugly work to win the ball back and give it to them and DD is one of them. Just think back to Leicesters title winning season and his partnership with N'Golo Kante. There was no frills or fancy flicks at all, they both formed a solid base to build from.
Unfortunately, Cesc Fabregas as much as I love him and respect his footballing brain, is unable to play in the deeper midfield position because it's not his natural game and he lacks the defensive instincts to do a job there. If DD is going to cost us £40 to get the deal done then so-be-it. Sign him up!
Ross Barkley - Everton - Estimated cost - £40m.
Let me start by saying that the fact that Everton have just splashed out the money they are likely to receive by selling Barkley on Sigurdsson speaks volumes as they are identical players in my opinion. OK, one is more experienced and knows when to influence the game in the right way at the right moment, whereas the other is natural raw talent that needs to be moulded into the complete midfielder.
I rate Barkley and believe that with the right management, with good people around him to keep his head right, he could become one of the biggest talents we have in this country to then move forward and become one of the biggest names in the Premier League.
Again, he is English, he has tremendous ability and a hunger to be successful. He can also adapt to play any role in midfield whether that is deep, a box-to-box midfielder, a wide player or someone who is happy to support the front man, Barkley's talent cannot be ignored here.
Working alongside the stars we have here already to help bring his game on to kick on with his career, Barkley could become a vital player for us over the next five or six years and of a real influence. I say sign him up!
So there you have it. The four English names that Antonio Conte has asked Chelsea to try and sign before the close of the transfer window. I believe we will get at least TWO of them, hopefully three. Could we get all four? Let's wait and see!
Even if we wanted Barkley, what would be the point of buying him now? He's out for three or four months. Surely could have an agreement with Everton to return for him in January.
ReplyDeleteLet see what can no happen..but conte should do some good before the end of transfer window.
ReplyDeletethanks
I'll be of opinion to sign ox and drink water, then go for van dijk and belotti. Azpilicueta can switch to LWB with Alonso as backup. Ox on RWB with Moses as backup, Rudiger, Luiz/Christensen, Cahil/Van Dijk at the back 3. Hazard, Pedro, William, Musonda and Boga should hold flanks and Morata Belotti Batshuayi should battle the upfront out or rather go with 3-5-2 formation if we eventually get Belotti
ReplyDeleteSecretly hoping Remy stays. Not a bad fourth choice striker to have. Especially in a two striker system.
DeleteWe won't get Rose.
ReplyDeleteOxlade-Chamberlain would be good.
Sell Maiic, buy Drinkwater? Madness.
Barkley no thanks!
A left back is priority. In the right Azpi can cover for Moses, Maybe even Willian can.
ReplyDeleteOn the left, there's noone. Baba injured. Kenedy being loaned out.
So...
LB - ?
CM - Chamberlain would fill a few different spots(RB, WG). I don't know why RLC or Van Ginkel couldn't have filled that space instead of wasting 30-40m on a new average midfielder.
ST - Belotti for crazy money?
CB - Van Dijk if he becomes available. Not a great need but best to grab the quality if it's there.
I think three more signings would mean things are sorted.
4 would be ideal, though.
I'm guessing two new faces will be added, if lucky.
To much of talk, just go out there and get them before it's late. Ox, beloti, Drinkwater.
