I hate the transfer window I really do and I am all for the window being slammed shut BEFORE the season starts. Don't get me wrong, as anyone would I love it when we bring quality into our club when the season is over and you look at ahead to a fresh start. The one thing I cannot stand is reading some of the most ridiculous bullshit in the press, total fabrication based on nothing and stories that are written for click-bait.
As for these reports I would like to think that there is nothing to it on either player but I am not so sure. Firstly for Michy Batshuayi everything hasn't really been ideal for him personally since he joined the club a year ago when it comes to the football. Having spent the most part of the season on the bench, he made a fantastic impact at the end of the season scoring the goal that won us the Premier League at West Brom with an addition of a couple more in the final games. Just when it seemed as though he had made a good impression on Antonio Conte, Alvaro Morata comes in and is handed the regular first team start with Diego Costa distant memory on the pitch at Chelsea.
As we know, "the Batman" made his name over in France and being linked with his old boss would appeal to him knowing that he would command a regular first team start there compared to here. However, subsequent follow up reports have indicated that he is determined to stay and fight for his position in the team and that he wants to prove his worth to the manager. The question we have to ask ourselves here is looking in from the outside whether or not it looks like the manager trusts him 100% to do the job for him in HIS team? I personally do not see that from Conte and would not be surprised if Chelsea decide to cash in the money to make a small profit. If he does stay, then that's great because we have all seen exactly what he is capable of, he just needs the regular football here.
As for Jamie Vardy being linked I can see that there is substance in the reports and I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea made an enquiry in the next week over his availability. He is English which helps increase our contingent at the Bridge first and foremost which would be an obvious reason for a possible move but mainly because of his outstanding ability.
We all see players like Vardy that have lightening pace and score goals for fun up and down the leagues in this country. For Vardy, he is one of the lucky ones who has worked his way up from the bottom to being a Premier League winner and that's through hard work, a little bit of luck but also his ability. There are plenty of other players like him who, if given the chance I believe could really make their mark in this league.
Look at Tottenham taking a chance on Harry Kane and look what's happened to him. We hope the same will be said of Tammy Abraham but with him being away on loan, Antonio Conte is looking for someone to provide an alternative option up front and Vardy could be the man for us.
Chelsea's style of play has changed drastically and we no longer rely on playing off a big man up front as our only option. With Vardy's pace and movement, imagine the chances he would have to put the ball in the back of the net with the likes of Hazard, Pedro, Willian and Cesc Fabregas putting them on a plate for him throughout the season.
I believe that Antonio Conte wants three strikers to cope with our schedule this season domestically in addition to European football but I can see him sticking with two as he did last season because of the flexibility of the players we have in the team that can play in alternate positions.
Could Chelsea decide to sell Michy Batshuayi and bring in Jamie Vardy as a potential replacement? I would not be surprised. Would you be?
Great summary - would love to see Vardy with our creators and his pace down channels and "lost causes". i am afraid I am not a fan of Tammy, just think he lacks imagination and his technical skills are on par with Bats. At Swansea against Man Utd his shortcomings were cruelly exposed. Perhaps with time he may reach a good standard but probably not with Chelsea.
ReplyDeleteI can't see Tammy Abraham leading the line for Chelsea. He needs to massively improve to even have a shot on Chelsea's bench. Sell Batshuayi because his hold-up play is extremely poor.
ReplyDeleteVardy won't be moving in this window or the next I am pretty sure. Gone are the days when medium sized clubs need to cash in on big players and Vardy unlike Mahrez is not looking to move!
ReplyDeleteMahrez and Vardy are not looking to move away, but Drinkwater is possible.
ReplyDeleteVardy will be very very nice with the likes of Hazard in front, but i don't see the possibility of Vardy living unless if we can bubble his pay
