Michy Batshuayi - Surely he has proven himself to Antonio Conte now right?

Life at the moment for Michy Batshuayi could not be better. He finished the season with a flourish of goals including the goal that won the title and has scored five goals in three pre-season games. 

Having read months and months of speculation that Michy Batshuayi was about to either be loaned out or sold this season, I am pleased with the response from the Belgian striker. It had to have been tough coming to Chelsea last year spending the majority of the season on the bench watching virtually the same players win the title in Antonio Conte's first season at the club. The tactical switch that has been written in history as the deciding factor of last season didn't help him personally as he struggled to find his feet and to understand his role.

However, having worked hard, having taken on board advice from the manager and the players, Michy Batshuayi finished the season in impressive style and has continued his good form into the first few weeks of pre-season.

It's early doors, I understand that, but there is already signs that he is adapting his game to the demands of a Chelsea striker. His hold play has been good, his first touch is good and his link up play has also impressed. You then add the goals he has scored so far and you really have to question what else he needs to do to impress the manager and hopefully put an end to any talk of him leaving this season.

I had written recently about the demands of the striker here at Chelsea and how I believe that Alvaro Morata is the next in line to Didier Drogba and Diego Costa. I am more than confident that in time, maybe another season with more involvement this time around, Michy Batshuayi can develop into the striker we need and make a real impact at our club.
