Chelsea linked with another Brazilian defender - Who cannot get into the first team at Real Madrid.

Chelsea are in "advanced" negotiations with Real Madrid to sign their Brazilian full back Danilo for a fee of around £26-£30m after being rejected by other transfer targets this summer. 

The summer and winter transfer windows were always an exciting time to see who Chelsea would buy and sell but over the last three years it has become nothing short of a nightmare for us fans and most importantly for the manager in charge at the time. 

I personally believe that whenever Chelsea make a signing and bring a new player into our squad, they should be someone of the calibre to provide IMMEDIATE competition for places in the team. If that's the case, with them coming into the club, it should give the existing players in the same position a kick up the arse to raise their game, to compete and work harder to keep their place in the side. 

If the person coming in does not do that, or is seen by the person they are competing against as a weaker opponent then you have to question the point of signing them in the first place and wonder why we bother. 

As we have seen throughout the close season, and weeks before the season finished, there is always intense speculation surrounding Chelsea with numerous players being linked with a move into the club and out. Some reports we read are complete bollocks and not even worth the paper they are written on but some we hope have real substance. That's the nature of the beast these days with agents playing much more of an important role in negotiations now focused on how much they can line their individual pockets with, but that's a rant for another time. 

So to this story and reports that we are in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid to secure the signing of Danilo. Who? 

Let's be honest and frank here. The bloke cannot force his way into the Real Madrid first team on EITHER the left or the right hand side of their defence and has had to accept a role as a backup player only used sparingly throughout the bloody season. Why on earth would we be looking to sign him and pay a ridiculous fee for god sake!?

We have Cesar Azpilicueta who can play both sides if required, we have Toni Rudiger who can play on either side with both players also more than capable of playing as one of our three central defenders. 

Don't go out and buy someone for the sake of it Chelsea. Bring someone in who will provide IMMEDIATE competition to Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso!!!
