Chelsea are close to signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a fee of £70m as they finally look to secure the replacement for Diego Costa and Antonio Conte's primary transfer target.
The news has broken this morning from respected Italian Journalist Gianluca Di Marzo in a tweet posted below:

It's been a ridiculous summer of transfer rumours and reports from those with substance, to those that are ridiculous. First Lukaku was coming to Chelsea, then to Manchester United, Morata himself was coming to Chelsea, then to United, then to AC Milan and now back to Chelsea. In addition Chelsea have been linked with Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain in recent days with the latter being total bullshit as far as I am concerned.
Yes we missed out on Romelu Lukaku which was disappointing but according to reports, he was the first choice to Michael Emanalo with Antonio Conte preferring to re-sign the man he took to Juventus knowing the talent and ability he has. It was just bad timing in that Morata never got time to work with Conte the first time around as Conte took the Italy job but has now made it his priority to re-sign the hard working striker for a second time.
I have said it before but Morata's potential and the current ability he has really excites me because in my view he is perfect for Premier League football. We support a club that has been blessed over the last thirteen years to have had Didier Drogba lead the line for a decade followed by Diego Costa for the last three years. Both are players that impose themselves on their direct opponents despite not having a massive physical frame that Romelu Lukaku has for example.
Both can literally do all that is required as a striker in the modern game and trust me Alvaro Morata is no different. He can lead the line, he can run the channels, he can hold the ball up, take people on, head the ball and he scores goals. Lukaku doesn't do enough to hold the ball up or to win the ball in the air which we will see this season at United but we WILL see that from Morata at Chelsea this season if we can get the deal done.
Come on Chelsea, get this deal done as quickly as possible and if we do, mark my words, What a signing he would be!

We were certainly blessed with Drogba, truly world class. As for Costa, more than happy to see the back of him.
