Antonio Conte has sanctioned a loan move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of the new season and he is expected to become Frank De Boer's first summer signing for Crystal Palace within days.
In my opinion it's a fantastic arrangement for a player who really, really struggled to make his mark under Antonio Conte last season. RLC made only six appearances in what has to be classed as a disappointing return for someone who had been given plenty of exposure to life in the Premier League during the previous season.
It remains a point for debate but I still think the player is struggling to find his best suited position and the tactical switch to 3-4-3 last season didn't help him at all. We all know that his best position is playing in a Frank Lampard-esque box-to-box midfield role arriving late just as the Chelsea record goal-scorer had demonstrated on more times than we could ever imagine.
He isn't a defensive minded player which immediately rules him out of consideration for the Kante/Matic position as it was last year. In my opinion he isn't suited to play as a number ten either as he plays better and has much more of an influence in games with the ball in front of him rather than playing with his back to goal.

I am always a little wary of these loan moves to Premier League clubs because as we have seen it can go the other way and players become stuck at a club not playing games with benefits none of us at all.
RLC has the ability, he has the quality and deserves a chance to prove himself on the biggest stage in this country for a season. We just need to hope that he takes the opportunity given to him by Frank De Boer and Crystal Palace and turns this season into a personal success.
