Tammy Abraham will get his opportunity to take on the Premier League this coming season at Swansea with Paul Clement in charge having agreed a season's loan with the Welsh side.
However, with reports that Rafa Benitez at Newcastle was interested in taking him up North for the coming season, Newcastle's first back in the big time having been relegated a year ago, it seems that Chelsea's hierarchy has stepped in and rejected the move with concerns over the local nightlife being a distraction as they are keen that he continues to work hard and build on the stunning progress he has made last season at Bristol City.
Now that's a massive blow for Benitez as he had reportedly pinpointed Abraham to lead the line next season after the impact the young striker had made in the Championship. However, for Paul Clement, with persistent rumours regarding the possible departure of Fernando Llorente, Abraham is also seen as someone that would lead the line in a settled Premier League club looking to build on the progress he has made since taking over.
For Abraham all eyes will be on him and the progress we all hope he can make at Swansea. Paul Clement has Chelsea connections from his time here with the Academy and as an Assistant Manager so knows the development program we have in place and will also understand that's important that Tammy Abraham is encouraged to kick on by starting games on a regular basis.
Abraham is still only 19-years-old and that's important to remember but we would be foolish to ignore the season he has last year. 23 goals in a remarkable loan spell in Bristol has really established himself in the game and this season is another chance to really kick on now.
At Chelsea this year, with the Champions League and the Premier League under Antonio Conte, Tammy Abraham will not get a chance to feature for us quite yet as the Manager looks to build on a our success.
In my view, I agree 100% with the move to Swansea as we all know they are great club who like to play the game in the right way. If he can get down there, get settled into their playing style quickly and gain an understanding with his team mates early doors, I see no reason why he cannot have another good season this year.
