According to various reports which would indicate that they are more than credible, Nemanja Matic has agreed personal terms with Jose Mourinho in a £35m deal to take him to Manchester United.
I have to say I am gutted if he does move to Manchester United because I really, really rate Matic as one of our unsung hero's at the Bridge. He has fantastic ability with the ball at his feet, is happy to drive forward to take people on, to score goals all in addition to his excellent defensive instincts.
I know that people will look to our signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko and think little of losing Matic but I believe it could be the wrong move unless somehow, we can convince Marco Veratti to come and join the Antonio Conte revolution here.
Nemanja Matic has been there and done it as far as playing in England and most importantly in the Premier League. The fact that we are prepared to let him and his experience go to put all our eggs in Bakayoko's basket concerns me as players who have never played here before need time to settle in our way of life and the pace/power of our game.
Without question N'Golo Kante had outshone Matic and everyone else for that matter this past season and has more than made the defensive midfield position he plays his own. What's important for those that watch the games week in, week out is the contribution of Matic next to him. The two formed a really impressive partnership last season which played a huge part in our success.
If, as expected, Matic signs for Manchester United for a fee of £35m, it would mean another profit being made by the club, this time to the tune of £14m having re-signed him from Benfica in January 2014 for just £21m.
We all know that Manchester United have lacked a naturally defensive minded midfielder for a couple of season now which has proven to be their Achilles heel. They can only be delighted to get him if this deal does go through because they will have a chance to appreciate just how influential he can be and thoughts of a possible link up with Paul Pogba would get the United fans excited about their potential challenge for the top four next season.
I cannot underestimate what a mistake I think this would be if this goes through!

I'm a United fan but I don't want him at United. We can certainly do better than signing leftovers from Chelsea.
