According to The Telegraph, Antonio Conte is watching developments regarding the immediate future of Riyad Mahrez who is looking to leave Leicester City this season.
Now as we know Arsenal have been huge admirers of Mahrez and it looked as though he would follow N'Golo Kante out of the club last summer after their amazing title win. The Players Player of the Year 2015-16 decided against the move to remain and take on the challenge of Champions League football this past season.
For whatever reason Leicester's title defence has been a disaster, worse than ours thank-god and it seems as though Mahrez has made the decision that his future lies elsewhere with his heart set on a move to London but with a stipulation of being a club in the Champions League which now rules out Arsenal!
So what of Mahrez and a possible link to Chelsea? Is he someone that excites you? Is he better than the options we already have or do you see him adding balance to the squad? When I say that I am referring to the attacking two playing just off of the main striker. At the moment we have three players fighting for two places (Hazard, Pedro and Willian) and if we are to take on the Champions League challenge in addition to the Premier League we need that extra person.
I would take Mahrez on that basis but in my view, I would play all three ahead of him because I do not think he is a better option. If he was to provide cover as Conte looks to rotate the squad then he would be a good option for us but as far as starting games - not for me.
It's reported that a fee of £35m could be agreed if there is any real substance in the reports.
What do you think of Mahrez to Chelsea? Do you feel he will improve the team or have the same view that I have?
