As far as rumours go between now and the end of the transfer window, this one is a cracker. Chelsea are in for Kyle Walker who has fallen out of favour at Tottenham.
I have to be honest, when I read the report featured here, I thought rubbish, there is no way that Tottenham would ever contemplate letting him go or to be interested in conducting any form of business with Chelsea.
Then I thought about it after reading further on in the article to find out that he only earns a reported £70,000 per week! If you add the fact that he has fallen down the pecking order under Pochettino in favour of Kieran Trippier and has hardly featured in recent weeks then there could be some substance behind the report.
It's clear that with Tottenham finishing in the top four in the past two seasons that players and their fat-cat agents will want some sort of reward for doing so. We have reached the end of the season and it becomes a time where these agents begin to create stories and rumours that are put out to the media to gain publicity that their client deserves a new, bigger contract or he would look to move elsewhere. So to this story I would advise caution as I cannot see him leaving despite reports that Manchester City want him this summer.
So what of the rumour that Chelsea are more than interested? If you concentrate and focus on the player himself and compare him to Victor Moses who has had an outstanding season, it's clear that a deal for Walker would be a big improvement as Walker's all-round game is stronger.
He is English and it would bolster our numbers within the squad in the Premier League and Champions League if John Terry does actually leave after 22-years at Stamford Bridge.
Most importantly of all, he has vital experience of the Premier League with a taste of the Champions League which would benefit Antonio Conte and the options he would have available next season.
Walker is 26-years-old and is coming into the prime years of his career. All players want to win trophies and I guess having come so close in the last two years, he is now focusing on joining a club that is writing and creating history more or less every year!
If he was to become available and Daniel Levy would consider Chelsea's offer, I would take him in a heartbeat. What do you think?
I see from a 'newspaper' report that Eddie McCredie has flown in from the State,s,,,,hope he,s part of Sunday,s Celebration at the 'Bridge' now that would be a great deal..as he vowed never to return after the Mears Fiasco...sadly age is against him now getting to many games!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was at the bridge with my Dad for the first leg of the league cup final when we beat Leicester 3-2. McCreadie ended playing centre forward and scored a brilliant individual goal for the winner. For that reason alone, if he turns up tomorrow and can still stand unaided, I'd play him at left back!
