According to The Sun, Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo is keen on West Ham's Argentinian midfielder Manuel Lanzini.
Talk about ridiculous rumour of the week right here! I simply cannot see it at all and I am wary that these are the sort of stories that come from the players agents now that the season is almost over and it's time to focus on rinsing the arse out of clubs for bigger contracts.
As for West Ham, there has been a period of uncertainty over Slaven Bilic who is a manager I really rate. For weeks now people have been talking of him leaving the club, having lost his best player in January and their additional struggles at the London Stadium. It appears that these rumours are dying down now but it's been the perfect opportunity for these money-grabbing agents to try and capitalise on the situation.
Having signed on a permanent basis back last summer after a successful loan spell last year, Lanzini hasn't had the same season this time around. Although he states that he is happy in East London, that has not stopped reports of interest from the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool as to his availability this summer.
As for Chelsea's interest? The report claims that Emenalo sees Lanzini as having the same potential to be on par with Luka Modric which is a joke in my view.
Lanzini is a player that wouldn't provide direct competition for places up against our current first team and for me that is all important when it comes to identifying transfer targets. I wouldn't have him in the side as a replacement for Eden Hazard, Pedro or Willian.
I see no substance in this one. What do you think?
