Brighton and Newcastle have been granted permission to speak with Tammy Abraham about a potential loan move next season. Chelsea will ensure that he is tied down to a new long term contract first.
Now with all the rumour and speculation concerning our current strikers at the club I can see that people reading this post will argue the case that this guy has done more than enough through all levels at the football club and on loan this past season in the Championship, to be given a place in Antonio Conte's squad for next season. I do understand that, I really do but, as have seen countless times, the club want to see how he settles into life in the Premier League first.
For the majority of players who have been farmed off out on loan to other Premier League clubs it hasn't worked for one reason or another. Look at Patrick Bamford as the perfect example. A great talent and earmarked for stardom. Named Championship player of the year during his time with Middlesborough and all set for big things in the Premier League. Three loan spells later and he had hardly started games or made any sort of impression.
We have to be wary of the same happening with Tammy Abraham. He has been fantastic this season and I am certain that he would be given a place in the first team with both sides as they come up into the Premier League. It's whether or not he takes the chance he will be given and isn't left to rot on the bench in favour of a big money signing instead.
I firmly believe 100% that Chelsea could have found what Tottenham did with Harry Kane, one of their own who turns out to be a goal scoring sensation. This could be the season that cements his place in our future.
What do you people think? Who do you think he should sign for?
