As reports linking Alexis Sanchez with a move to Chelsea intensify, I want to hear from as many Chelsea fans as possible with their thoughts on a possible deal being agreed this summer.
The rumours first started to appear at the time the players representatives had reportedly told Arsenal that they had received an offer near to the £300,000 per week from the Far East. We had heard that they wanted Arsenal to match that amount to keep hold of their client beyond this summer as almost immediately, Chelsea were being linked with the player in addition to Manchester City knowing that both clubs would be willing to pay substantial wages to him if he was to become available.
As time moved forward and the “interest” from the far east seemed to evaporate, the future of Sanchez at Arsenal remains under the microscope and has once again become the focus of the Media due to Arsenal’s struggles in the Premier League.
Speaking recently, Alexis Sanchez has given a strong indication that he intends to stay in London beyond the summer but has an eye on moving from North to West London with Chelsea being his first choice for a potential move if the clubs can come together to agree a fee.
He said:
“I am happy in London and I hope to finish my contract at Arsenal.
I want to stay in a winning team and keep playing in the same city. I want to play in a team that has aspirations.
I’m 28 years old, I still have a lot ahead of me. I am a player who takes great care of himself.”
It’s the fact that he talks of being happy in London and wants to play in a team that has aspirations (of being successful) that gives an indication of a potential move away from North London.
In his pre-match press conference, ahead of Manchester City tonight, Antonio Conte was asked of the reported move for Sanchez in the summer. Although Conte reminded everyone that he does not like to talk of other players from other clubs because he does not want to be disrespectful to that club in particular and Conte’s players, he did say:
“Now is not the right moment to talk about this.” – Read into that what you will.
There is little doubt of the quality Sanchez has it’s a credit to him that he has come to England from Spain and adapted his game to suit the Premier League. Arguably, Arsenal’s best player, you would imagine that they would not want to conduct any form of business with Chelsea if, as being reported, Antonio Conte has asked the Chelsea board to sign him as his number one transfer target this summer.
Sanchez would fit in anywhere into an Antonio Conte side whether its wide left, wide right, as a number ten or through the middle as the main striker. He is only 28-years-old with his best years ahead of him so if the rumours do have real substance about them, it would be exciting times at Chelsea as we prepare for life back in the Champions League.
Expect more on this story as it develops over the next few weeks but I want to know your thoughts on the Alexis Sanchez to Chelsea rumours in the comments below.
What do you think, fact or fiction?
Getting Sánchez will make Chelsea so formidable and rugged. Snap the opportunity and keep Hazard in rhe team.
ReplyDeleteI always said we should've hijacked him a la Willian.......
ReplyDeleteIts way easy to snap him,of recent he has not liked the losing streak and lack of titles at Arsenal. If chelsea show 'real' interest, then they will have him.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for that!
