Cesc Fabregas has been at the heart of speculation surrounding his future for most of the season so far and has recently spoken out to reaffirm his commitment to the Chelsea cause.
It’s fair to say that Cesc Fabregas has experienced a huge range of emotions since he arrived from Barcelona. The elation and jubilation of winning his first Premier League title coupled with the League Cup two seasons ago, the despair and turbulent times of last season as Chelsea made an awful defence of their fourth Premier League title, to this season and the battle Fabregas has now to get himself into the first eleven on a regular and consistent basis.
As with anyone with the ability he has with the ball at his feet, when they are not being played on a regular basis the press will jump onto the situation with rumours and various reports appearing to speculate over this future with the transfer window last month being a potential moment that the Spaniard would look to move away.
Nothing happened as the window had come and gone with Fabregas training just as hard as ever to force his way into the managers plans. Recent weeks will demonstrate that it seems that he has done exactly that.
So to the continued speculation and the response from Cesc Fabregas to once again deny that he is looking to leave Chelsea. He said:
"I have already made a statement that there is no truth in it and I want to stay.
I can understand that there is doubt. I know that as a player I like to play with the ball and on the defensive side I'm not like that.
But it shows that I have adapted very well to his (Antonio Conte's) philosophy and what he wants. Hopefully I can learn more to play even more.
Sometimes when you have played a long time and won a lot, you think 'ah I've done everything and know it all'.
But then you realise in football you never know everything. I'm in a good moment, a good situation. Hopefully I have reversed the situation a little from the beginning of the season to now. Hopefully I can keep playing like that to keep my place.
Don't get me wrong, I want to play every match, every minute, like all players do," he said. "But sometimes you have to fight for it.
Sometimes the easy way is to escape, to say 'I don't play', get upset and say you want to leave, to create a drama. In my mind I decided 'no, I want to challenge myself'.
Not everything comes easy in life, you have to fight sometimes against situations that you're not used to or that are against you in a way.
That's what I'm doing and hopefully I can show the manager that he can trust me in games and in any moment he wants." - Source: London Evening Standard.
Despite his intention to stay, there are fresh reports that have surfaced of late stating that AC Milan are preparing a bid of around £27m this summer to tempt Chelsea into selling. This of course is not the first time the Italian giants have been linked with a move for Fabregas as it was thought that a possible loan deal would be agreed in January to take him to the Italian capital.
One thing to note though this summer according to other reports doing the rounds currently. Jose Mourinho, the man who convinced Fabregas to leave Barcelona to come back to the Premier League is understood to be watching any developments regarding a potential move if that’s what the player is looking for.
For now, it’s clear, the man with the “Magic Hat” wants to stay which is excellent news for all of us!
