Chelsea v Arsenal: The arguments for and against Cesc Fabregas starting tomorrow.

Chelsea take on Arsenal in the lunchtime kick-off at Stamford Bridge tomorrow and I am asking whether or not you think that Cesc Fabregas should start?

The game is our second massive encounter with title rivals in the space of five days having drawn at Anfield on Tuesday night. The difference this time around is that we are at home, Arsenal have midfield issues and it could be the idea time to make a change to the first team.

Arsenal have major issues in the centre of midfield and it looks as though Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain will partner Francis Coqeulin in their defensive midfield positions. We know that "the OX" is a great talent but I am far from convinced that he will be able to do the defensive work required facing the attack we have and I wonder if we should look to capitalise on their issues by introducing Cesc Fabregas in place of Nemanja Matic?

The argument for Cesc to start. 

Just look at the impact and authority he has when he is on the pitch. Against Hull and a period that Hull enjoyed plenty of possession, Fabregas came on and immediately calmed things down by simply making himself available for the ball. With the ball at his feet, he orchestrates our play and almost dictates the speed of our attacking threat with his use of the ball whether it's quickly to feet or over the top.

As we have seen time and time again, Fabregas has the ability to unlock the door in tight games and his ability to pick a pass is unrivalled. The understanding he has with Diego Costa could once again be key.

The argument against Cesc to start. 

The obvious weakness is his pace and his defensive qualities compared to Matic. With Fabregas in the side, N'Golo Kante will have his work cut out and will have to cover the areas Fabregas leaves behind. As we witnessed for the most part last season, Nemanja Matic struggled to do the same job next to Fabregas and with Arsenal's quality in attacking areas, it could become a real problem to defend in front of our back three.

Another thing to consider here is the height advantage Matic would have over Fabregas in defensive positions. OK, Arsenal are not the tallest team in the Premier League but with Chelsea's obvious weakness in defence at the moment, it's better to have additional height in our box.

So there we have it in a nutshell, arguments for and against Cesc Fabregas starting the game tomorrow. If Arsenal were at full strength it would be a different story but, in another game we need to win to take a grip on the Premier League even further, it could be a chance to give us more of an attacking threat to have a play maker sitting deep in the heart of our midfield.
