This weekend's FA Cup clash at the Bridge against Brentford is expected to see Antonio Conte rotate his players as he prepares for Liverpool and Arsenal next week. Michy Batshuayi is likely to start against Brentford but could play the remainder of the season elsewhere.
You have got to feel for Batshuayi who joined Chelsea in the summer for big money, only to discover that once a manager discovers a winning formula with a settled side, it's hard to break into that to make your mark. Having started well this season with his first goal in the Premier League against Watford, it looked good for him but that all changed with a tactical switch from Antonio Conte.
We can only imagine what it feels like looking from the outside in but to be playing regular first team football week in, week out, to represent your country in the Euros back in the summer and to then get your big money move to the best league in the world for everything to shudder to a halt has to be difficult, especially in a new country.
As with plenty of others, he has had to settle for a place on the bench in the Premier League and has had to settle for late appearances in games in addition to being handed games in the Cup competitions. We expect him to make another start against Brentford on Saturday but it could be his final appearance in a Chelsea shirt for the remainder of the season as Antonio Conte and the club will decide what is best for both parties moving forward.
West Ham are believed to be more than interested in taking the Belgian on loan for the remainder of the season and it's thought that the player himself would favour a move across London. It will be interesting to see if Slaven Bilic makes a formal offer next week.
One thing is clear, if he IS allowed to leave on loan then expect Chelsea to look to sign a replacement and fresh from his heroics at Anfield last weekend, Fernando Llorente continues to be linked with Conte having worked with him for two years at Juventus. Swansea will not want to let him go without a fight so it's interesting to see what happens.
To me Batshuayi's body language doesn't always look good and you can see that he is a frustrated player so maybe a loan move is best for him. What do you think?
