Oscar's move to China has baffled plenty of people in Football and a fair few Chelsea fans. On the eve of the Brazilian midfielder completing his move, the reason for his departure has been revealed.
Everyone has had an opinion on Oscar including me within this post on the site after the deal was announced. Some people are in favour of the move, some people disagree with it and some people just accept it as part and parcel of football. However, The Shanghai SIPG chief has revealed the reason Oscar decided to leave Chelsea and continue the next stage of his career in the far east.
Shanghai SIPG's general manager Sui Guoyang said:
"Oscar has fallen out of favour with Conte because he has no place in Chelsea’s 3-4-3 formation.
It played a key part in his desire to leave. He felt terrible to sit on the bench and not be involved. He is so young.
Oscar wants to come back to the Brazil national team. Some of his compatriots play in the CSL and they still get called up to the national team. So it helped him to make the decision to move to China.
And of course, the appointment of [ex-Chelsea boss] Andre Villas Boas is a plus. Oscar knows we are an ambitious club." - Source: The Mirror.
It was obvious to me that Oscar would struggle to get back into the Chelsea team as soon as the tactical switch made by Antonio Conte happened. Unfortunately, with every change you make there are always going to be casualties of circumstance and this is what has happened to Oscar which is a real shame but something we have had to accept. Would you change what has happened in the last twelve games to accommodate Oscar? Of course you wouldn't!
Chelsea paid a really nice tribute to Oscar on their Website last week and the player has posted a touching message to the Chelsea fans before he completes his move. It IS such a shame it has taken the turn it has personally for Oscar but as we all know in football, players and managers come and go but the club and it's supporters will always remain.
I wish him well.
