Jose Mourinho has turned into a hypocrite since his move to Manchester United and this was demonstrated with his response when asked if he could catch Chelsea in the title race.
Now I love Jose Mourinho and will always hold such affection for the man that took our club that extra step forward in 2004-5 to win the Premier League title for the first time in fifty years. In addition for all the trophies that followed in his two spells at this club. He is our most successful manager of all time.
However, and it does pain me to say it but I am beginning to see what everyone else used to see when he gives his interviews to the press. Looking at Jose Mourinho - Manchester United Manager from the outside in, you can understand why so many people got themselves so wound up by him.
Speaking yesterday and of the title race as it stands, Jose was asked whether or not he believes that his Manchester United team could catch Chelsea. He responded in typical Mourinho style by saying:
"You have to be honest and say that is very difficult, It’s not just the difference in points, it’s also the Chelsea philosophy of playing.
They score one goal and they win. They defend a lot. They defend well. They are winning and, in the last 20 minutes, they bring defenders in.
They don’t care what people say, what people think. They just want to win. And, because of that, I don’t see them losing many points.” - Source: The Telegraph.
What a hypocrite! Chelsea won their first title in fifty years in 2004-5 by winning eleven of thirty-eight games 1-0. If anything, after the subsequent title that followed the year after, Mourinho changed his style of play and became the manager who delivered results no matter how they came about.
How many times did we see him adopt a defensive approach at Chelsea just to ensure we got the result which became all important? How many times would he go for the win and then shut up shop by making defensive changes? Is this guy serious??
Mourinho has focused on the past three games against West Brom, Sunderland and Crystal Palace as he and our rivals had hoped that Chelsea would drop points. As we know that didn't happen as we got the goal we needed and OK, yes we did send on Branislav Ivanovic to shut up shop and protect the three points but so what?
Mourinho obviously has a short memory and has forgotten the two fantastic victories against Tottenham and Manchester City having been a goal down but fighting back to win. He also has forgotten our best display of the season against Everton.
Just look at Mourinho these days up North and he looks like an angry man, there is no smiles or laughs with the media, there isn't a charisma about the man that literally owned every single room he walked into and he doesn't look anywhere near the same person that we have become used to seeing week in, week out.
We all know that he likes to play mind games but it's clear with Conte that will not work. We know that he likes to make controversial comments to take attention away from his players to allow them to continue to concentrate on their football but I don't see any of that at all now. It's my view that he is really struggling up there and realises that despite the amount of money spent in the summer, they have a real fight on their hands just to finish fourth!
Jose Mourinho, I love you but don't you think it's time that you focus on your own teams problems and rather than to make idiotic, hypocritical statements such as these??
Seriously mate, he's always been like this and I honestly don't think his comments were in any way critical of Chelsea. He's always valued 1-0 wins and in any case why pay attention to others when we're top of the league!
