Victor Moses has proven to be an integral part of Chelsea's recent success having adopted Antonio Conte's 3-4-3 formation. The Chelsea boss has admitted that he finds it hard to believe that he had previously been overlooked at Chelsea.
If we take a step back in time looking back at the last two or three pre-season campaigns at the club, Victor Moses has arguably been our best player. When you sit and watch games such as these, you understand that the whole purpose of the process is for the players to get fit and gain important match fitness. However, for Moses it was different as he looked fit, sharp and a constant threat for us.
Each pre-season finishes and the squad is named for the upcoming Premier League campaign and he is left out but sent out on loan? I could never understand it at all. At least last summer, before he was sent out on loan the club made their intentions clear and tied him down to a new three-year contract.
So to this season and to Antonio Conte's use of him as a Wing Back and it's safe to say that he has been a revelation. His energy to get up and down that right hand side has been really impressive and you can see that he is learning to defensive aspect of the game.
It's when he has the ball and the option he provides the team out wide that has really made people sit up and take notice. He is quick with the ball at his feet, has skill in abundance and most importantly of all, he is not afraid to take people on whether that is to come inside or take them on down the line. He offers Antonio Conte a different dimension down that side as does Marcos Alonso down the left and for the time being, it's working fantastically well.
Speaking of Victor Moses recently, Conte said:
"I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp.
Moses has important qualities: technique, physical strength, the ability to cover 70 metres of the pitch.
I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated.” Source - The Independent.
One thing is for sure and you have to give Victor Moses so much credit for this, he was given a chance to perform and impress by Antonio Conte and he has taken it with both hands.
Let's hope his and teams good form continues, especially in the next two games!
