Cesc Fabregas has reportedly rejected numerous approaches from the Chinese Super League and West Ham United as he will only accept a move to another top European club.
There has been plenty of speculation over the future of Chelsea's 29-year-old midfielder in recent days and this is a story that will continue to run right up to the end of the January transfer window. Fabregas is big news and if there is a chance he would leave Chelsea then you would expect headlines to be written having made the impact at the club he had two seasons ago.
If you think of the Premier League as it is now compared to ten years ago, you will understand just how much the game has changed.. It's more technical, it's faster and there has been a dramatic improvement in the quality of the teams from top to bottom compared to a decade ago.
As Football continues to evolve as Managers up and down the country look to find the right balance to their teams, their tactical approach combined with man management skills are now more important than ever. You need to be as good as a manager of each individual player as you are tactically aware.
I fear that Cesc Fabregas has become the first casualty of Antonio Conte's tactical switch which as a result, has transformed our season. You look at the team as it is and you just cannot see anyone forcing themselves upon the manager to make a change at the moment. As we have seen with Willian and the unfortunate circumstance of a family bereavement, he has had to settle for a place on the bench at the moment because Pedro has come in and played so well.
I have said it before, if we were playing with a 3-5-2 formation there could be a place for Fabregas as part of the midfield three with the Spaniard being deployed in a similar role to that of Andrea Pirlo for Antonio Conte at Juventus. In the 3-4-3 formation there is no solution.
So to the fact that he has rejected advances from China and all the monies on offer and that is a credit to him. You have to imagine that Fabregas does not need money and any decision he makes at this stage of his career is vitally important, which explains his decision to remain in Europe.
Having revealed that Dimitri Payet could be a January target for PSG with Fabregas being lined up as a possible replacement, it seems as though Fabregas does not see West Ham as an option which at the moment you have to understand. If Payet is eyeing up a move away, that tells you something.
Many believe that a deal was almost completed for Fabregas to join AC Milan on loan before the summer transfer window closed. Recent reports state that this particular deal appears to be dead and buried so it will be interesting to see what happens and if he is allowed to move on, where he goes. There is still a chance that he would remain at Chelsea but it's looking highly unlikely.
Expect plenty of top European clubs to come in for Fabregas if he is to be made available for loan in January.
