Harry Redknapp speaking as a Pundit on BT Sport after Chelsea had come from behind to beat Tottenham made some bold statements. I'm wondering whether or not you agree?
Redknapp said:
'I think when they have got a fully fit team, I would not want to be swapping anyone in Chelsea's best team for Tottenham's.
Maybe Chelsea are top of the league, but you do not stop the league today.
The back four, you get Alderweireld back, you get Rose back, you get a fully fit squad, and I think Tottenham are excellent.
In the first half I thought they completely outplayed Chelsea today, Chelsea got the goal at the right time and it brought them back into the game, second half they were much better, but I still think Tottenham will be bang in there at the end of the season.
'In terms of squad, you would take Chelsea, but the actual starting eleven, I would not swap any of that Tottenham team personally.' Source - Daily Mail.
So let's have a look at the points he has raised here knowing he allegiances with the team from White Hart Lane.
- I think the only thing we can do with his first point is actually ask Tottenham fans if they would want anyone from the current Chelsea team to replace anyone they currently have?
- I agree with Redknapp that their first choice back four of Walker, Rose, Alderweireld and Vertonghen are a class outfit and one of the best defences in the League. In my view they are not THE best but up there.
- I agree that Tottenham outplayed Chelsea in that first half and were superb. Chelsea could not get any form of a foothold in the game with the likes of Kante and Matic nowhere to be seen for the most part of that first half. However, Spurs came out so fast, so quick and pressed with such an intensity that it was obvious they would tire in the second half - the rest is history.
- The question I have to ask is would any of the Chelsea fans take anyone from Spurs to replace anyone from their current first eleven? Harry Kane would be the only one to consider in my view.
The whole point of this post is to try and gauge the opinion of the Football fan reading this post. Whether you are Chelsea, Tottenham or just a lover of our game, I am interested to read your opinions of what Harry Redknapp has said here.
I've had my say, now you have yours!
