Who could have possibly imagined after just six Premier League games Chelsea would sit at the top of the Premier League? Without question, we more than deserve to be there.
Chelsea's victory over Middlesborough at the weekend was not our best performance in the last six games, however it made a real statement in my eyes, it served notice of just how hard we are going to be to play against and to beat.
Six top flight games against decent to class opposition from Hull to Leicester, Manchester United to Southampton and the performance of the season against Everton to Tee-side on Sunday have quite literally turned our season around and it's amazing to see.
The less said about last season the better and let's face it, everyone has had their opinion including me but it was clear that there was some open wounds to heal. It looked as though in those early weeks that Antonio Conte had done exactly that as Chelsea started well, but that soon came crashing down with alarming defensive performances against Liverpool and Arsenal. It was a dangerous time and being honest, we could see those wounds from last year re-opened again with reports that Antonio Conte was facing the sack this early into his tenure in West London.
It's at times such as these that you must be strong to pull everyone through the hard times with you and to inspire the players. With those reports that Conte was facing questions from Roman Abramovich as to what he was doing, the Italian had a simple answer - to trust him. Roman Abramovich has done exactly that and his man has delivered a tactical masterstroke. Sitting eight points behind the leaders Manchester City just six games ago, Chelsea now sit top of the league in what can only be described as an incredible turn around.
We can look at individual performances this season and pick out players such as Diego Costa, Eden Hazard, Pedro and Victor Moses and rightly so in other other circumstance, however after personally having the privilege to witness our team performance against Everton from the Matthew Harding Lower Stand that night, it's hard to look beyond the team as a whole.
Everyone has bought into Conte's ideas and philosophy 100% and that is so good to see after the reported "palpable discord" last season. Everyone is willing to work hard for the manager, for the team and we hear from different players of how the team comes first and my god it shows.
You think of our six-game winning run without conceding a goal and you can count on one hand the real saves that Thibaut Courtois has had to make. We look solid at the back, we always seem to have more than one option to play a pass to when in possession of the ball and we are lethal in attack. Whether it's by taking the game to the opposition such as Everton or playing on the counter attack as at Southampton, Chelsea look impenetrable right now.
Yes Manchester City have the squad, yes Liverpool are playing some amazing attacking football but no one looks as solid as a team from defence to attack as Chelsea are right now and we more than deserve to be top of the league.
