With plenty of transfer rumour and speculation over the immediate Chelsea futures of Cesc Fabregas and Oscar, Antonio Conte has spoken out and re-iterated that these two remain important players for Chelsea and will not be leaving in the January transfer window.
As far as the players are concerned that has to be good to hear with both having had to settle for a place on the sidelines this season. I know Cesc Fabregas has been injured but you have to admit that it looks like he would still take his place on the Chelsea bench as he did last weekend when he is fit to play.
Without question both are class players with fantastic ability but as we have seen in the past six weeks, if you do not fit into the current setup you are going to struggle to force you way back in.
Six wins on the spin, six clean sheets and a run that has taken Chelsea to the top of the Premier League, why on earth would you want Antonio Conte to make changes to his settled side that has remained unchanged for the past five games?
If we suffered any injuries they would be drafted into the side as cover but at the moment that is all I can see both of them being and you have to wonder if after a period of time they would still be happy to accept that?
So to the speculation over the future of both of them with reports of Italian interest in both Cesc Fabregas and Oscar, Antonio Conte was quick to put to bed any thoughts of these two being made available in the January transfer window. He said:
"It’s gossip, I’m not going to send them away.

Thinking about it, it's easier to implement Oscar into the current setup under Conte. As we witnessed late in the game against Middlesborough. Oscar could fill in for Pedro or Eden Hazard in one of their positions as he has the pace to do so and the skill. Of course Willian is to come in for Pedro at some stage (not right now as Pedro has been outstanding and was unlucky not to score twice on Sunday) but Oscar could play a role there in my view.
The problem for me is Cesc Fabregas and where he would fit in as a replacement? We have established that he could not perform the same job as N'Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in defensive areas so the question remains as to whether he could perform in the Hazard/Pedro role? I am not so sure.
I am of the opinion that if Antonio Conte was to have a sudden change of heart to allow one of these two to leave the club in search of regular first team football it would be Fabregas.
For now though it seems that they are staying here and for a regular place on the Chelsea bench because those currently in the team have been outstanding and have taken us back to the top of the Premier League!
