Michy Batshuayi has been talking of Chelsea training sessions under Antonio Conte since he arrived and has described them as nothing he has ever experienced before. The signs are good so far.
People are focused on Diego Costa and what is happening with his future at the moment, and rightly so, but I just wonder that despite him being a big money signing, the young Belgian appears under the radar at the moment with not much expected from him outside of the club in his first season.
There is a thought process among followers of the Premier League and Football in this country that foreign players need time to adjust. When it comes to Batshuayi I am not so sure as I believe he is one that could really hit the ground running under Antonio Conte.
So to pre-season and of the impression made on Batshuayi by Antonio Conte so far. He said:
“Everyone in the group has made me feel at home, and everyone has helped me so much, the players and the backroom staff too. Even people who don’t speak French have tried for me. There is a great atmosphere here.
I have a perfect relationship with the coach as well. I already feel like I am progressing a lot under him. I am still young, 22, and I am happy to have a great coach who will make me improve.
Training has been very tactical and very physical, it’s been on another level. It’s been different to what I experienced before because you have to be 100 per cent concentrated in every session.”
With Diego Costa a notable absentee from tonight's encounter with Real Madrid in the USA, It's a real chance for Batshuayi to make a real impression on the Coach, the players and everyone connected with Chelsea by putting in a good performance.
I honestly believe we could a real star on our hands with this guy. Let's hope so!
