Antonio Conte's U-Turn over Chelsea Midfielder - He's been told he's going nowhere!

The immediate future of Nemanja Matic has been up for debate this summer with rumours that Jose Mourinho wanted to try and lure him to Old Trafford. With it looking like he was to be on his way, Antonio Conte has now put a stop to a possible move and has told the Serbian Midfielder he is to stay at Stamford Bridge.

If the new boss can pull it off and Matic stays here it would be fantastic news for all of us as far as I am concerned. After revealing that a new 4-2-4 formation is the way forward for Chelsea under Conte, the two midfield positions will become key as part of the framework of the side.

With reports that Conte wants N'Golo Kante to fill one of those positions (possibly alongside Cesc Fabregas) it's imperative that we have competition for places and Matic would give us exactly that. I wouldn't be surprised if in away games, the Matic / Kante pairing would become first choice.

We all know that Nemanja Matic for the most part had a stinker last season - as everyone else did but towards the end of the season, with regular games, he picked up his form and looked the part once again. It's clear he is a confidence player and needs a regular run to maintain his form. It looks now like he will get exactly that if Conte gets his way.
