The future of Oscar at Chelsea seems to be up for debate after every season. These passed few weeks he has been linked with Juventus but according to reports, Antonio Conte has told him that he will be a key player for him here at Chelsea.
I really, really rate Oscar and agree with Conte that he can become a key player after watching the Italian performance the other night against Belgium. If Conte deploys wing backs with three players covering narrow in the central midfield area, then Oscar in one of those positions could become instrumental in the way we play. Willing to work hard without the ball, fantastic ability with the ball at his feet, Oscar can really thrive under Conte.
I have said this many times but Oscar needs a manager that is willing to trust him for ninety minutes in order to really see him kick on and become the player we all acknowledge that he can be. I say that based on the fact that every manager he has played for here at Chelsea either substitutes him in games or drops him to the bench and brings him on. He never gets a full ninety minutes.
His future was thrown into doubt on our last home game of the season as he left the ground before kick off. I believe it was claimed to be down to illness but that's up for debate.
It now seems that despite his future being speculated about for a third season running, Juventus has turned their attentions elsewhere with the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Roma so it looks like Oscar will remain at the club next season.
This is great news for all of us as we look forward to what will be the most contested Premier League season of all. If Chelsea are to make a challenge for the top four we will need the likes of Oscar to do so.
Imagine Oscar full of confidence, given great backing from the Manager and playing ninety minutes week in, week out. He come become massive for us!
