The appointment of Antonio Conte seems to have reached it's peak a fair few weeks ago and now has slipped back under the radar. For Carlo Ancelotti however, he has been keen to sing the praises of the new man in charge to put him back in the spotlight.
With the developments regarding our previous manager (before Hiddink) dominating the pages of our newspapers for what seems like ages, Antonio Conte has carried on with his preparations for Euro 2016 which is due to start this Friday. He made his statement when he was appointed, stated that he wanted to focus on Italy and to be fair, the press have pretty much left him to it with just rumours being published on a daily basis and not any signs of the British Press giving him any hassle while away with Italy.
So to Carlo Ancelotti and he was asked what he thought of our new appointment. He responded by saying:
"Conte is a hard worker: really serious, really professional and always focused on his job.
Chelsea are getting a top manager who will look at all the little details
Coming to England from Italy, he will find a different world: less pressure, no violence, a great atmosphere, full stadiums – just totally different from Italy at this moment.
He can definitely be a success at Chelsea.”
I have to say that I am really, really looking forward to the new season and the fact that it seems as though Antonio Conte will be allowed to remain under the radar to get on with things and to concentrate on finishing inside the top four next season.
I say that he will remain under the radar because of everything else that IS going to happen with the other managers from our rivals next year. Think of Mourinho at Manchester United and the fall outs he will continue to have with Arsene Wenger. He will instantly have a feud with Pep Gladiola being at Manchester City and massive rivalry these two clubs already have, and lets not forget Jorgan Klopp now at Liverpool bearing in mind that United and Liverpool hate each other also.
As a Chelsea fan who loved Jose Mourinho and what he has done for our club in both stints as manager, I for one will NOT miss the dramas in the papers and all the coverage the club has through the media for one thing or a another. It will be interesting to see how long United and their Board of Directors will stand for it.
As for Conte, he will be able to take a back seat and let all of it play out between all of our rivals while doing the job that Carlo Ancelotti believes he can do here to hopefully get us back to being where we belong.
I really, really cannot wait for it to start!
